Draft Fact or Fiction: Fiske in Round 1, Chop Robinson in the Top 10, Byron Murphy’s Upside

Mike Farrell diagnoses whether Braden Fiske moved himself into the first round conversation with his combine performance, if the PSU edge defender is…

In today’s Fact or Fiction — NFL Draft edition — I look at three big recent topics around the NFL Draft and decide whether the statement is indeed FACT or if it’s FICTION.

1. Braden Fiske worked his way into round one discussion.

Farrell’s take: FACT

Not only by his impressive testing numbers with the sub 4.8 40-yard dash, but his fluidity was excellent in drills, his motor was evident, and you can tell he’s going to be an overachiever and lockerroom leader if he stays healthy at the NFL level. He’d be a smart late pick in the first round for a team that needs a gap shooter.

2. Chop Robinson put himself up there with Dallas Turner and Jared Verse.

Farrell’s take: FICTION

A 4.49 40-yard dash is amazing, but the Penn State standout also measured in with short arms at 32 1/2, and that’s a concern. It likely won’t keep him out of round one as he has great bend and rounds the corner with elite balance, but he won’t be up near the top 10 like Turner and Verse, who are longer. Verse was only 33 1/2, but trust me, it makes a difference in the minds of scouts.

Chop Robinson just ran a 4.49 40 yard dash… he is 254 pounds.

3. Byron Murphy was the most fluid DL.

Farrell’s take: FACT

I loved what I saw from the Texas DT, as he showed up in top shape and was especially impressive in the footwork drills. He punched his ticket as the top DT so far.

"Great drill!"
