With the surprising departure of Jeff Hafley to the NFL, Boston College players now have a 30-day window to enter the transfer portal. Numerous players will be contacted by other schools with the hope that they make themselves available, but here are the five who will be the busiest:
WR Lewis Bond
The skinny: After grabbing six receptions for 57 yards during his first two seasons with the Eagles, Bond surprised many in 2023 with 52 receptions for 646 yards and seven touchdowns. The native of Chicago would surely get plenty of interest from Big Ten schools closer to his home after proving that he is a reliable offensive weapon at the P5 level last season.
Schools to watch: Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Michigan State, Nebraska, Iowa
WR Jayden McGowan
The skinny: The recent Vanderbilt transfer initially committed to South Carolina before having a change of heart and signing with the Eagles. Could he make himself available yet again? If he does, he will gain plenty of interest, as he is an explosive offensive weapon who would also bring substantial help to any team’s kick return unit.
Schools to watch: South Carolina, Indiana, UCF, Pittsburgh, Auburn, Syracuse
OT Logan Taylor
The skinny: Taylor, a transfer from Virginia, took a bit of time to get adjusted to his new surroundings but began to flourish when he did. Settling in at left tackle, his 6-foot-7, 310-pound frame is exactly what college coaches who are in the market for improvement at a very important position are looking for.
Schools to watch: Northwestern, Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech, Maryland, Rutgers
CB Amari Jackson
The skinny: Jackson enjoyed a very productive sophomore season with the Eagles, finishing with 39 tackles, 3.5 tackles for a loss and one interception. He still has room for improvement, but the potential he showed in 2023 would quickly catch the eye of plenty of college coaches.
Schools to watch: Virginia, Georgia Tech, Northwestern, Duke, Vanderbilt
C Drew Kendall
The skinny: The anchor of an improved offensive line, Kendall continued to raise his level of play after a Freshman All-American performance in 2022. The redshirt sophomore has NFL-level talent and the pedigree to go with it since his father, Pete Kendall, was a first round pick back in 1996.
