Mind of Mike: Buckeye Fans Need to be Less Dumb

Ohio State fans are overreacting to Jim Harbaugh leaving for the NFL and what happens to their chief rival moving forward

I’ve seen some Ohio State football fans and, shockingly, some social media influencers actually say that Jim Harbaugh is running from college football and leaving Michigan in a shambles. And to this, I simply say — you’re all acting like morons.

Jim Harbaugh ran away from the mess he created.. Coward… what a guy

Jim Harbaugh leaves Michigan with a losing record against Ohio State.

There goes the first domino of the downfall. When has a national champion coach ever left immediately after? Unless he knows it’s all going to fall apart, which he does.

Michigan cheated. https://t.co/K4UF1IBOfC

Jim Harbaugh to the Chargers. Escaping the NCAA sanctions and leaving Michigan’s program in shambles 😫

— Mekka Don (@MekkaDonMusic) January 25, 2024

Michigan just won a national title, and there’s no taking that away. And you can point to your off-season recruiting efforts, portal additions, or even Harbaugh’s 2-4 record against Ohio State and it doesn’t matter. You talk all you want about asterisks, pending NCAA penalties, and how hard it’s going to be to replace Harbaugh. It’s cute. But Michigan beat Ohio State three straight times and are now the reigning national champs. And I get it, your hatred of Michigan is what drives you and that’s what is amazing about college football. But you also have to look a little less dumb.

Am I a Michigan fan? Nope. Just ask them. Do I give a crap about Ohio State? Nope. You know this if you’re a Buckeyes fan. I have no skin in this game, I’m just a dude who gives opinions on college football. And my opinion is this — the more you brag about the off-season and rag on Michigan and the way they won then the dumber you look.

Nov 25, 2023; Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA; Ohio State Buckeyes head coach Ryan Day answers questions at a press conference following the NCAA football game against the Michigan Wolverines at Michigan Stadium. Ohio State lost 30-24.

It sucks, I know. Your rival won a natty. It happens, and it happened to Michigan in 2014 when Urban Meyer won it all for the Buckeyes. And I’m sure they played a similar justification game. Meyer cheats. He’s a snake. You shouldn’t have been there in the first place. On and on. And guess what? They looked dumb then, too.

College football is about passion, and passion is the reason I make money. And I’m not trying to curb passion or bring rivals together. But when I see stupidity, I feel compelled to call it out. So let’s be less stupid, okay?
