Are the Florida State penalties payback? It sure seems quite targeted, and the question is — did the threats against the College Football Playoff committee make this happen?
FSU got screwed. Most can agree with this. A 13-0 season and a Power Five conference title has ALWAYS been the standard to make the four-team college football playoff until Florida State did it, and it looked like an SEC team would be left out. They can use the injury to QB Jordan Travis as an excuse all they want, but this was a money grab for television, and we all know it.
FSU pushed back and is challenging the Grant of Rights in the ACC, which doesn’t make ESPN and the other money brokers in the sport happy. They wanted the Seminoles to take their snubbing quietly, and they didn’t.
But something else happened that may be being glossed over. Ever heard of #FSUTwitter? If you haven’t, then you’ve never pissed off that fan base.

But the college football playoff committee sure did, and it recently came out that the NCAA hired security for those on the committee who felt it was warranted after alleged physical threats from the fan base. And the FBI was called in.

The college football playoff committee is a volunteer group made up of administrative folks who want to feel special. They don’t get compensated (or so it says), but they determine the playoff rankings weekly and ultimately determine who gets in and who gets out. And snubbing the Seminoles didn’t go over well for them. Led by NC State AD Boo Corrigan, the group was the focus of hatred from #FSUTwitter, and you can bet they whined and complained to anyone who would listen.

The NCAA works in conjunction with those on the committee, and between the Grant of Rights lawsuit and threats to the committee, Florida State has become target No. 1. And more could be coming.
You try to tell me that it’s a coincidence that FSU is the first program truly targeted for NIL infractions when EVERYONE is doing it after the public outrage at the committee for being snubbed? Nope. Maybe you think my tin foil hat is on too tight, but this is a clear case of targeting to me, and I expect Florida State to fight back as they’ve done at each show of disrespect. And things could get uglier and uglier.
