In today’s Fact or Fiction — transfer portal edition — I look at three big recent topics from the transfer portal and decide whether the statement is indeed FACT or if it’s FICTION.
1. Nebraska told Kyle McCord no thanks.
Farrell’s take: FACT
With 5-star QB Dylan Raiola seemingly coming in, Matt Rhule and company wanted to focus on the young guy and build the offense around him. While McCord was tempting, balance in the QB room would be off with McCord wanting a guarantee he’s the starter and Nebraska excited about Raiola playing as a freshman. This just wouldn’t have worked out for all parties.

2. McCord will land at Syracuse.
Farrell’s take: FACT
Fran Brown needs a guy to build around, and McCord can head back to the Northeast and be the starter at a program with much fewer expectations. Brown also worked for Rhule for years, and while this isn’t a handoff at all, it just makes more sense for McCord to be the man at Syracuse rather than battling a 5-star in Lincoln.

3. Coach Prime is on fire in the portal.
Farrell’s take: FACT
He’s at it once again as Deion Sanders revamps his roster once again with portal players. He already has 10 portal commitments, and it’s mid-December, so he should likely land 30 or more after retooling 75% of his roster last year. You can argue if it’s the way to do things or not, but he’s landed some talent. He has some much-needed OL, and getting Will Sheppard from Vanderbilt is a nice addition. The Wade brothers from Kentucky will help with depth as well. Deion is loading up once again.
