Fact or Fiction: Napier on the Hot Seat, Harbaugh Knew, Coach of the Year

Mike Farrell looks if Billy Napier is on the Hot Seat, what Harbaugh knew, and if an undefeated coach will win Coach of the Year.

In today’s Fact or Fiction, I look at three big recent topics in college football and decide whether the statement is indeed FACT or if it’s FICTION.

1. Billy Napier is truly on a hot seat.

Farrell’s take: FACT

If you think a 5-7 season (assuming a loss to Florida State) isn’t going to have folks wanting Napier gone then you’re crazy. Can his recruiting class save him? It honestly should as Florida’s impatience has been a major reason for the lack of success since Urban Meyer.

Still, Napier has done some things (refusing to name an OC, some bad in-game coaching adjustments) to make this bed. This will be an interesting decision but his seat is hot.

2. Jim Harbaugh knew.

Farrell’s take: FACT

Can we stop this farce now? Harbaugh said he was excited to talk at the hearing Friday and then backed out as Michigan fired linebackers coach Chris Partridge for covering up evidence and Michigan took his three-game suspension without a fight.

It’s getting worse and worse and it’s becoming more and more clear that he knew about this. To what level, we don’t know yet but those thinking he was oblivious are just in denial.

3. One of the undefeated head coaches is Coach of the Year.

Farrell’s take: FICTION

While Mike Norvell and Kalen DeBoer deserve great consideration and we overlook how good Kirby Smart truly is, I’m going with one loss Jeff Brohm and Louisville.

I still don’t know how they lost to Pitt, but he’s been amazing for this team. Brohm, despite having an average portal QB has the Cardinals in the ACC title game in year one. Once he can build his roster, Louisville could be a true sleeping giant in the ACC.
