In today’s Fact or Fiction, I look at three big recent topics in college football and decide whether the statement is indeed FACT or if it’s FICTION.
1. Jamey Chadwell will be the next coach at Mississippi State.
Farrell’s take: FACT
Yes, the location tweet was a fun little hoax, but let’s be serious – Chadwell will be the next guy at Hail State, even if he wasn’t there this week. And Mississippi State couldn’t find a better coach. His time at Coastal Carolina, and now Liberty, has been beyond impressive. He’s a great offensive mind, and he can find and develop talent. Others will be considered, but this would be a great hire.

2. Georgia should be No. 1.
Farrell’s take: FACT
It makes sense. The Ohio State wins over Penn State and Notre Dame look less impressive by the week, and Georgia has now beaten a Missouri team that looks damn good and Ole Miss, which has been formidable despite losing in all their big games. It doesn’t matter, of course, as Georgia and Alabama are on a collision course and Ohio State needs to get past Michigan, so all of this doesn’t matter, but I’m okay with the jump to No. 1 for UGA.

3. This is Nick Saban’s most satisfying season.
Farrell’s take: FACT
Alabama started off poorly with the loss to Texas and the horrible game against USF, and people like me wrote them off, and here we are with Nick Saban on the cusp of the playoff again. And you can tell by the way he talks and smiles this is quite satisfying to Saban. While I’m sure he loves the dominant teams that won national titles, I think he likes being doubted even more, and this season is what he’s wanted for years.
