With yesterdays official firing of head coach Jimbo Fisher, Texas A&M players now have a 30-day window to enter the transfer portal. Numerous players will be contacted by other schools with the hope that they make themselves available, but here are the five who will be the busiest in the coming weeks:
WR Evan Stewart
The skinny: Stewart will have at least one more season of eligibility remaining, which is more than enough to get the nation’s elite calling. Having totaled 90 receptions for 1,155 yards and six touchdowns, will he wait to see who the Aggies hire as a new coach, or will he decide to try and find a more stable environment for his likely last collegiate season?

QB Conner Weigman
The skinny: Weigman hasn’t necessarily set the college football world on fire during his time on the field in College Station, but it is difficult to overlook the fact that he has thrown 16 touchdown passes and only two interceptions over the last two seasons. While his 2023 season ended prematurely with a foot injury, you can be sure that plenty of schools are trying to convince him that a change of scenery is what he needs.

LB Taurean York
The skinny: The true freshman has been a terror on the field this season while showcasing the ability that makes him an NFL-caliber talent. Currently second on the team with 56 tackles, to go along with 7.5 tackles for a loss, two sacks and one forced fumble, there isn’t a program in the country that wouldn’t take York for a minimum of two more seasons.
Schools to watch: Baylor, Ole Miss, Duke, Colorado
DL Walter Nolen
The skinny: As with Stewart, Nolen will have at least one more collegiate season remaining. What makes him even more alluring though is that defensive tackles are a priority in the transfer portal. And having shown that he can produce in the SEC (61 tackles, 10 tackles for a loss and five sacks in 20 games) it would immediately make him a portal priority from coast-to-coast.

DB Bryce Anderson
The skinny: After a promising true freshman season in 2022, which resulted in him receiving the Aggies Defensive Top Newcomer Award, he has taken his game to the next level this fall. With 35 tackles, six tackles for a loss, one sack, one interception, one fumble recovery, one forced fumble and four passes defended, he has proven himself as a reliable defensive playmaker.
