This weekend, for the third time in 2023, LSU will host the number one player in the 2025 class. Bryce Underwood from Belleville, Michigan, will be in Baton Rouge this weekend for the Tigers game against Auburn. Underwood is recently coming off a Colorado visit where it seems Coach Prime and the Buffaloes made a good impression on the Michigan signal caller. In this article, we will explore the possibility of the Tigers landing Bryce Underwood and potential targets at the QB position if they fail to land him.
Can The Tigers Land Underwood?
After taking two visits earlier in the year to LSU, Underwood will return this weekend as the Tigers take on Auburn. In my opinion, LSU can 100% land the touted QB. In fact, the Tigers might even lead for the Midwest gunslinger. While there is no official top schools list, Underwood seems to have three leaders ahead of the pack in Michigan, LSU, and Colorado. In my opinion, LSU is ahead of the pack as they have pulled his ear a lot this season, and the continued success of Jayden Daniels seems to help in that aspect. This visit is different; however, since his teammate, three-star WR Adrian Walker Jr will accompany him in Baton Rogue. Walker holds four offers, including Colorado and LSU, which helps both schools in the pursuit of the five-star QB.

Why all the hype on Underwood? From a scouting standpoint, he is a generational prospect who has won two state championships in two years and only lost one game. He is no doubt a top QB in his class. Underwood’s true dual-threat ability makes him deadly in both aspects of the game. Standing at 6-4, 205 pounds, he displays an elite build for the position. He can read a defense exceptionally well and shows off his understanding of the game on the field. Underwood displays a strong arm and can make throws to any part of the field. He throws a solid deep ball and can use touch to put his receivers in positions to make catches. He understands pocket presence and uses his legs and great speed when needed. Underwood will start in college and likely hear his name called on a Thursday night in April.

The Belleville duo may be a package deal, and LSU is in their top two, with an impressive showing against Auburn and impressing Bryce and Adrian, landing both in the 2025 class can become a reality.
Backup Plan for LSU if Bryce Goes Elsewhere?
What if Bryce picks Colorado, Michigan, or another school? If Underwood ends up outside Baton Rouge, I will be shocked, but I also have three quarterbacks the Tigers can target to replace the Detroit prospect.
First is George MacIntyre. The Tennessee gunslinger ranks as the second-best QB in 2025 and recently released his top ten featuring LSU. While Alabama has the lead, if the Tigers target MacIntyre heavily, they can potentially steal a solid QB from under Nick Saban’s nose.
Second is Emile Picarella. The Tigers have not offered Emile, but he is a solid three-star QB who can develop behind 2024 commit Colin Hurley. Emile hails from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and will rank top sixty in the initial MFS Staff 2025 QB rankings. Picarella is a massive drop-off compared to Underwood, but he is a solid QB available for the Tigers.
Last is Mason Mims. The Oxford, Alabama, QB will rank top fifty in the initial MFS Staff QB rankings and is another solid option at the helm. Mims holds six offers but does not have one from LSU; however, the Tigers would be wise to offer if they miss on Underwood. While no QB can recreate landing the number one player, LSU will be fine if they miss him and still land a solid 2025 signal caller.
