In today’s Fact or Fiction, I look at three big recent topics in college football and decide whether the statement is indeed FACT or if it’s FICTION.
1. Travis Hunter shows us all how to behave.
Farrell’s take: FACT
I don’t agree with the approach of Travis Hunter sometimes. He’s brash and outspoken like his mentor, Deion Sanders, and sometimes it’s too much. But meeting up with Colorado State DB Henry Blackburn, who injured Hunter in their game with a dirty hit, was amazing. Hunter, who suffered a lacerated liver and is currently missing games after being hit late by Blackburn, met with his opponent and went bowling on Wednesday, and all is forgiven. It’s really quite adult of him and shows you can be a competitor on the field and a human being off it. I absolutely love it.
Really cool stuff here!! ⬇️
Travis Hunter invited CSU safety, Henry Blackburn, to his latest video. They got to know each other and even went bowling with each other.

2. Jimbo has his excuse if this season goes south.
Farrell’s take: FICTION
QB Connor Weigman is out for the season and many think this will help Jimbo Fisher survive another season if the Aggies stumble to 6-6 or 7-5. But I don’t think so. At the very least, I don’t see it as an excuse, and Fisher has been a massive disappointment after his $100 million guaranteed deal in 2017. Fisher has gone through the following since he was hired…
- 9-4 in 2018
- 8-5 in 2019
- 9-1 in 2020
- 8-4 in 2021
- 5-7 in 2022
- 3-1 so far this season.
Without Weigman, the Aggies face a tough road with Alabama, Tennessee, Ole Miss, and LSU remaining and tough games with Arkansas, South Carolina, and Mississippi State as well. Backup QB Max Johnson is capable, but can he navigate five wins to get this team to 8-4? That keeps everyone off Jimbo’s back, I believe. But 7-5 again or 6-6, and they could start passing the collection plate around to buy Jimbo out.

3. Saban is petty calling out Dan Lanning.
Farrell’s take: FACT
Why is Nick Saban on the Pat McAfee show? I like the show and have just started watching it regularly, but it just seems like a show Saban would avoid. But recently, he said this about Oregon head coach Dan Lanning blasting Colorado for “playing for clicks”
“I understand what Dan, I think, was trying to say. And it was probably good for his team to hear in some ways,” Saban said. “But it probably wasn’t good for everybody else to hear. That’s always the argument. Where does the access–where do you draw the line and say?: ‘Okay, there’s gotta be some time when you can talk to your team and say what you have to say, and it’s really not for everybody else to hear.”
— Nick Saban on the Pat McAfee Show
Nah, Saban is wrong here, and it’s kind of petty for him to judge his former assistant. Lanning was waging war against coach Prime and a team where he had no chance to match the glitz, glamour, and hype. So, he used it against them and used the media to push his message out. It will only help recruiting as Oregon is a “team of substance” in recruiting battles against the Buffs. It’s a smart and savvy move, and Saban should leave it alone.
