In today’s Fact or Fiction, I look at three big recent topics in college football and decide whether the statement is indeed FACT or if it’s FICTION.
1. Ohio State throttles Notre Dame.
Farrell’s take: FACT
Out on a big limb here but I think the overall speed advantage for the Buckeyes will lead to a double-digit win. Kyle McCord is improving weekly and starting to see things slow down, and the running back & receiving corps at OSU will be hard for the Irish to check.
If Notre Dame can’t control the line of scrimmage and run I think Sam Hartman could be pressed to do things downfield. The Buckeyes defense doesn’t impress me much but they can rush the passer and that will be huge here. Give me the faster roster by 10-14.

2. Texas and Florida State use close games en route to blowouts.
Farrell’s take: FACT
Baylor always plays Texas tough but the Horns struggled with Wyoming and that will help them. They had their letdown game after Alabama and this roster is so much better than Baylor’s it’s astonishing. There’s no way Baylor’s defense can hang and they lose in a rout.
FSU is harder to predict but the close win over Boston College helps. They will establish the run against a tough Clemson defense, keep them off balance, and capitalize on what has become a predictable Clemson offense by forcing Cade Klubnik to beat them downfield. And he won’t deliver. FSU by 14 on the road.

3. Ole Miss bounces Bama.
Farrell’s take: FICTION
This is a popular prediction and Alabama isn’t the scary team we have seen over the last decade or more, but c’mon people. This is Nick Saban against one of his former coaches and despite the loss to Steve Sarkisian, I can’t see it happening two times in three weeks. Bama won’t win big but they get it done as they finally gameplan to enhance Jalen Milroe’s running ability.
