On Wednesday, Colorado State Head Football Coach Jay Norvell fired shots at Colorado Head Football Coach Deion Sanders when he commented on how he dressed while addressing the media. Apparently, Norvell did not appreciate the fact that Coach Prime wore his hat and sunglasses when speaking to a group of reporters.
“I sat down with ESPN today,” Norvell said. “I don’t care if they hear it in Boulder. I told them, I took my hat off and I took my glasses off. I said when I talk to grown-ups, I take my hat off and my glasses off. That’s what my mother taught me. (Colorado’s) not going to like us no matter what we say or do.”
Today, Coach Prime struck back.
With his team circled around him, Coach Prime said that the game known as the Rocky Mountain Showdown is now personal.
“Why would you want to talk about us, we don’t talk about nobody,” Coach Prime asked his team after practice. “It was just gonna be a good game, but they done messed around and made it personal. I’m minding my own business watching some film and trying to get ready and I read some bull junk once again. They messed around and made it personal. It was gonna be a great test, a battle of Colorado, but they made it personal.”
Prime’s other son Shilo Sanders, a defensive back on the team, was also offended by Norvell’s comments and questioned why Norvell would pick on his father for the way he addresses the public.

“Why do they do that? They just make it worse,” Shilo said during an appearance on the Pat McAfee Show. “We was actually just talking about that. Some of the receivers and my dad was over there and I overheard them talking about that and I was like ‘what did he say?’ and they told me. I was like bruh, why do they do this to themselves every week?
“Coach Prime is a cool guy, like you don’t have to be like that.”
Coach Prime did his radio show on Thursday and said that he is not changing for anyone.
“I’m not going to get in front of you and change who I am just because you’re here,” Sanders added. “I don’t do that. I’m consistent with who I am.” He went on to say, “I’m a grown man. I’m supposed to wear what I’m not supposed to wear.”
The Rocky Mountain Showdown is at Folsom Field at 10 PM EST on Saturday.
