WINNERS
Texas
Texas is my biggest winner of week two. They went to third ranked Alabama, at night, and beat them by ten. They were ahead for most of the game and the Longhorn defense didn’t let Jalen Milroe and company get much going. After losing a close one at home last season to the Tide, Steve Sarkisian and Texas got their revenge. Texas might be back for real.

Washington State & Oregon State
These are the two programs that will be left behind by the new power four conferences, at least as of now. To see them both being ranked and undefeated is nice. 16th ranked Oregon State is 2-0 with two blowout wins and Clemson transfer DJ Uiagelelei looks good. Washington State was on nobodies radar preseason and are now ranked 23rd. They beat Wisconsin for the second year in a row on Saturday night. The Beavers have a game with San Diego State coming up and the Cougs take on Northern Colorado.

Colorado
Colorado continues to prove people wrong and win, albeit they haven’t had a real test yet. But for a team that went 1-11 last season, every game is a test, and they have already surpassed their win total from 2022. Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter had good games again, and now College Gameday and Big Noon Kickoff will both be there for their game this weekend vs rival Colorado State. After that they will be tested with their next two games coming against Oregon and USC.

Miami
Miami vs Texas A&M was a good game. It went back and forth until Miami pulled away late. Miami has a talented roster and a good quarterback, they just need to put it all together. Hopefully, this win this past weekend can kickstart that. Miami is now ranked 22nd and will take on Bethune-Cookman on Thursday night. Their three big games are at North Carolina, vs Clemson, and at Florida State.

LOSERS
Alabama
I heard all offseason about how Alabama was back, Nick Saban had the team motivated, they fixed their problems, and then now they are sitting at 1-1. They let Texas come into their stadium and beat them in a night game. Texas is a very good team, but after what I heard this offseason, they made it seem like the Tide were unbeatable. Basically all of College Gameday had Bama winning the SEC and National Championship. Their season isn’t over, not by a long shot, but they need to fix their problems ASAP.

Texas A&M
The Aggies made some changes during the offseason that made it seem like they could finally be improving. That might still be true, but they now have a loss in just week two. Miami could end up being a really good, but Texas A&M should be too. After the best recruiting class in history in 2021, plus other good classes, they should be lightyears ahead of where they are now. It might be time for Jimbo to move on from College Station.

Wisconsin
Wisconsin was a team I was high on before the season. I had heard good things about QB Tanner Mordecai and Luke Fickell. I’m not writing them off yet of course, but they are a loser of the week. I expected more from them, and was left disappointed. I’m hoping to see improvement as the Badgers move forward.

Texas Tech
The Red Raiders were another team I was high on preseason. I like Tyler Shough and the culture there, built by Joey McGuire, was intriguing. But now Texas Tech sits at 0-2 with losses to Wyoming and Oregon. The Wyoming game was a tough one, but they had a great chance to bounce back in week two, and almost did. They played Oregon great and lost in a close one. They needed a win, but couldn’t get it done, so with that being said, they are a loser of the week.
