Which teams have to make hay this season? It’s not like they won’t have talent moving forward, but this could be the best chance in a bit for these teams to make a playoff run.

1. Michigan

— The Wolverines’ roster is as stacked as it’s been in any year since Jim Harbaugh took over, and there are no weaknesses. Harbaugh has made his playoff runs, but a national title game appearance could happen this season.

Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh celebrates scoring a two point conversion against Purdue during the second half of the Big Ten Championship game against Purdue at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind., on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2022.

2. Florida State

— Jordan Travis is back, as is most of a potent offense, and with Clemson having QB question marks, this could be the year to win the ACC and make the playoff.

Sep 4, 2022; New Orleans, Louisiana, USA; Florida State Seminoles quarterback Jordan Travis (13) scrambles out the pocket against LSU Tigers defensive tackle Jaquelin Roy (99) during the first half of the game at Caesars Superdome.

3. USC

— Malachi Nelson is great, but he’s not proven, so this last season with Caleb Williams could be the best chance in a while, especially with the Big Ten move.

Nov 19, 2022; Pasadena, California, USA; Southern California Trojans quarterback Caleb Williams (13) throws against the UCLA Bruins during the first half at the Rose Bowl.

The Best Way to End the Scheduling Debate

Nov 19, 2022; Baton Rouge, Louisiana, USA; LSU Tigers quarterback Jayden Daniels (5) looks to pass the ball against the UAB Blazers during the second half at Tiger Stadium.

5. Notre Dame

— Notre Dame fans like to say they wouldn’t have lost any games last year with Sam Hartman under center. Let’s see if he’s the best QB they’ve had since Brady Quinn, as many think.

Notre Dame quarterback Sam Hartman (10) drops back to pass and is protected by offensive lineman Quinn Murphy (53) during the Notre Dame Blue-Gold Spring Football game on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at Notre Dame Stadium in South Bend.
