Every season we see new stars emerge, especially since players only stay an average of about four seasons in college football. We’re going to take a look at a few players in each conference that could be those guys this year, starting with the ACC.
Cade Klubnik – Clemson QB
Cade Klubnik saw some time last season and eventually took the starting job from DJ Uiagelelei by the end of the season. He did decent, but this season I believe he will take off. He has a full year of experience now and has a very good offensive coordinator in Garrett Riley who came over from TCU. He will need a few receivers to step up, but it can be done. We have seen many Clemson quarterbacks flourish under Dabo Swinney, such as Deshaun Watson and Trevor Lawrence, so what’s stopping Klubnik from being the next?

Keon Coleman – Florida State
A lot of people are talking about Johnny Wilson and Jaheim Bell, and rightfully so, but people need to focus on Keon Coleman. He transferred in after having a good season with Michigan State in 2022. Coleman had 58 receptions for 798 yards and 7 touchdowns for the Spartans. He has the ability and now has a better quarterback, so he should be able to boost his numbers tremendously. I also think he is in a more favorable offensive system now at FSU. I expect Coleman to break out this year.

Tyler Van Dyke – Miami QB
Some people were hyping up Tyler Van Dyke before last season. All that hype disappeared when Miami started struggling as a team. He threw for nearly 2,000 yards but had a 2-to-1 touchdown to interception ratio. He needs to improve on that. They have made adjustments and Van Dyke has had another season to improve. I don’t see why he and Miami as a whole can’t be a lot better in 2023. Miami brought in Shannon Dawson, and I think that’ll help that offense out tremendously.
