Recruiting is the main vessel to any winning program, especially in the SEC. With that being said we are in the thick of recruiting season as prospects everywhere are taking visits, dwindling down their top school lists, and ultimately committing. Here in this second edition are some top recruits that I believe Tennessee needs to land to keep the momentum going in the program.
EDGE Elijah Rushing, Salpointe Catholic HS, Tucson, AZ
- 6’5, 251lbs
- Five-star ranked 27th nationally.
- To get any recruit from the west coast is a major win, but a five-star at that! Indescribable. That is what Tennessee is trying to do with Elijah Rushing. The versatile playmaker from Tucson wreaks havoc for QBs. He is set to commit today July 6th, deciding between Tennessee, Arizona, and Oregon. His last OV was to the Vols on the 23d of June, but the hometown team might be too much to overcome. We shall see.

OT Bennett Warren, Fort Bend Christian Academy HS, Sugar Land, TX
- 6’7.5, 330lbs
- Four-star ranked 142nd nationally
- The big boy from Texas is monster sized and surely plays like it. The Volunteers had another OL from Texas in Max Anderson who committed a little over a week or two ago, and they are expecting the same here with Bennett. While he did enjoy his OV giving the Vols some momentum, it certainly won’t be easy. Texas A&M, Michigan, and Oklahoma are also squarely in the mix.

DL Kamarion Franklin, Lake Cormorant HS, Lake Cormorant, MS
- 6’5, 265lbs
- Four-star ranked 44th nationally.
- Seen as a Tennessee lean recently before and after his OV on June 16th, while also canceling his OV to LSU the very next week, you would think this one is in the bag, right? Not quite. This one is kind of up in the air at the moment as he went to Miami for a camp that same weekend as the LSU visit, while also setting up an OV to Auburn during the regular season on Sept 29th. It’s safe to say this one is far from over for the Mississippi star.

CB Cai Bates, Edgewater HS, Orlando, FL
- 6’1.5, 180lbs
- Four-star ranked 121st nationally
- Since his OV to the Vols back on June 16th, things have been pretty quiet with Cai. With that being said the Vols are still in a good place with the sunshine state product. While he has no commitment date set up at the moment, it shouldn’t be too far away. Given Tennessee’s pass coverage woes in the backend the past few seasons, this would be a huge get. LSU and Florida State are the other contenders for his services.

IOL William Satterwhite, Archbishop Hoban HS, Akron, OH
- 6’4.5, 300lbs
- Four-star ranked 191st nationally
- This one may be the most important as he is set to commit this Friday July 7th in a tossup between the Vols and Clemson. The mauler from the Midwest is a man in the trenches that you need to win games. His last visit was to the Vols on 23rd of June, but this could go either way. Clemson just got an OL commitment from Ronan O’Connell, who is from Tennessee and would love to steal another one. The Vols would love to close this one out.
