In today’s Fact or Fiction — Recruiting Edition — I look at three big recent topics from the recruiting trail and decide whether the statement is indeed FACT or if it’s FICTION.

1. Texas has the lead for WR Ryan Wingo.

Farrell’s take: FACT

I liked the Vols early in this one, but they have faded a bit, and now Texas has taken a strong lead over Missouri, Michigan, and Georgia with the Vols still hanging in. So why Texas? Steve Sarkisian is selling his success at Alabama with WRs, the hype around Xavier Worthy, and of course, Arch Manning, and it’s working. The move to the SEC doesn’t hurt. It’s not over yet, but the Longhorns are in the driver’s seat.

2. LB Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa is leaning to Ohio State.

Farrell’s take: FACT

This isn’t an easy one to call as USC is in here as well, and Notre Dame does well at times in California, especially with players making their choice on faith above. But right now, give me the Buckeyes for the 4-star LB right now as his decision in late July.

3. Justin Scott was always going to be a Buckeye.

Farrell’s take: FICTION

First, it was Notre Dame. Then it was Miami, and then everyone expected the Georgia visit to change it all. Michigan was always in there as well, but when the Buckeyes landed the official in late June and locked it down, I was surprised. And not a lot of things surprise me anymore. But this is an amazing job by any account as the Buckeyes stayed in here but always trailed and then closed hard. This is how Ryan Day and his staff can recruit.
