Which programs are in the best shape right now?

1. Georgia

Georgia coach Kirby Smart celebrates with fans after the NCAA College Football National Championship game between TCU and Georgia on Monday, Jan. 9, 2023, in Inglewood, Calif. Georgia won 65-7.

2. Alabama

Oct 15, 2022; Knoxville, Tennessee, USA; Alabama Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban reacts during the first half against the Tennessee Volunteers at Neyland Stadium.

3. Ohio State

Nov 26, 2022; Columbus, Ohio, USA; Ohio State Buckeyes head coach Ryan Day yells during the first half of the NCAA football game against the Michigan Wolverines at Ohio Stadium.

4. Michigan

Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh celebrates scoring a two point conversion against Purdue during the second half of the Big Ten Championship game against Purdue at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind., on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2022.

5. Texas

Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian talks to quarterback Arch Manning (16) during the first Texas Longhorns football practice of 2023 at the Frank Denius Fields on the University of Texas at Austin campus on Monday, March 6, 2023.

Breakdown:

What does healthy mean? It means financially well-off and winning. UGA is in the top five in college football revenue, and they’ve won two straight national titles, so it doesn’t get better than that. Alabama and Ohio State are also revenue juggernauts and consistent playoff teams. Michigan is new to the playoff the last couple of seasons but in great shape overall and a top-five team from a revenue standpoint. Texas could be the surprise here, but they rake in money and are improving in wins as they head to the SEC in 2024.
