Moving to the SEC for our Power Five unit rankings, we have an amazing group led by Alabama.

1. Alabama

— It’s close for the top spot, but with the potential of Dallas Turner, along with Tim Smith, Damon Payne Jr., and Justin Eboigbe I give them the nod.

Nov 12, 2022; Oxford, Mississippi, USA; Alabama Crimson Tide linebacker Chris Braswell (41) and linebacker Dallas Turner (15) and linebacker Henry To’o To’o (10) celebrate after making a stop against the Ole Miss Rebels at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. Alabama won 30-24.

2. Georgia

— The Dawgs will be nasty, as always, led by Nazir Stackhouse in the middle and the next superstar at EDGE in Mykel Williams.

Jan 9, 2023; Inglewood, CA, USA; Georgia Bulldogs defensive lineman Mykel Williams (13) tackles TCU Horned Frogs quarterback Max Duggan (15) in the first quarter in the CFP national championship game at SoFi Stadium.

3. LSU

— If Maason Smith comes back fully healthy, they could easily be No. 1 here, as he and Mekhi Wingo will be impossible to handle.

Sep 4, 2022; New Orleans, Louisiana, USA; Louisiana State Tigers defensive tackle Maason Smith (0) celebrates a play during the first half against the Florida State Seminoles at Caesars Superdome.

4. Texas A&M

— Walter Nolen and Shemar Turner live up to the hype, and the Aggies could push ahead of everyone if the entire unit breaks out.

Nov 26, 2022; College Station, Texas, USA; Texas A&M Aggies defensive lineman Shemar Turner (5) and defensive lineman McKinnley Jackson (35) sack LSU Tigers quarterback Jayden Daniels (5) during the fourth quarter at Kyle Field.

5. Florida

— Princely Umanmielen leads a group that is a drop-off from the top four but should be solid.

Dec 17, 2022; Las Vegas, NV, USA; Florida Gators defensive lineman Princely Umanmielen (33) sacks Oregon State Beavers quarterback Ben Gulbranson (17) during the first half at the Las Vegas Bowl at Allegiant Stadium.
