As the 2025 recruiting targets start to emerge for Notre Dame, Justin Thurman is a name that Irish fans should get to know.

Thurman recently received an offer from Notre Dame on May 25th.

“I had a conversation with Coach McCullough when he came to visit me during spring ball. During that conversation, he talked about Notre Dame and the program. He said he likes that I am an outstanding student with a high character and likes my skill set. Then in a follow-up conversation, he offered me a scholarship to play at Notre Dame.”

Notre Dame is a school that doesn’t only stand out to Thurman because of its rich football history but also because of its high academic standards.

“I was excited and felt blessed to receive an offer from such a prestigious school. Everyone knows Notre Dame excels not only in football but most importantly high academic standards.”

The Best Way to End the Scheduling Debate

After the offer, Thurman was invited to campus for the Irish Evaluation camp so the staff could get a closer look at him and Thurman could get his first look at Notre Dame.

“The visit was outstanding. I really enjoyed the camp and getting to know the staff there, and learning more about Notre Dame. Notre Dame was overall very impressive. I’ve never been there before but the campus was unique and rich and reminded me of the Jesuit high schools I have attended.”

The culture of the Notre Dame football program also caught Thurman’s attention as well.

“All the coaches, staff, and players were very engaging. Even had the opportunity to connect with some teammates from St. Louis that are now current players there. The culture there is one that I can see myself fitting into.”

Although the relationship with Notre Dame coaches is still fairly new Thurman still thinks very highly of them.

“Coach Freeman and Coach McCullough were both very welcoming. They both are great coaches and offered great advice not only about my recruitment process but also about life opportunities that I could have as a Notre Dame grad. Coach Parker and Coach Brown emphasized that in my time spent with them too.”

Thurman is also in the process of scheduling return visits to Notre Dame later in the summer after the dead period and game day visits in the fall.

Thurman has been busy on the road visiting multiple schools including a visit scheduled to Alabama next weekend.

“It’s early in the process for me, but the schools I’ve had the opportunity to spend more time with thus far are of high interest. I want to learn more about all the schools interested in me. My last scheduled visit is Alabama this coming weekend.“

In addition to Notre Dame and Alabama, Thurman has taken visits to Rutgers, Tennessee, Florida, Kansas, Auburn, Iowa, and USF.
