This article could be titled “Who Could Be the Next Georgia” and would mean the same thing. UGA was a sleeping giant for decades. With that school, campus, resources, location, conference, etc, they were bound to break through at some point. They just seemed to underachieve year in and year out. Let’s take a look at a few teams that are in the same boat that Georgia was in until 2017.
Texas
Texas is a historically great program with all the money in the world. They have been recruiting great under Steve Sarkisian and obviously landed Arch Manning. They should be set on talent for the next four years at least. They need to keep this up and have it translate to on the field, but Texas might just be on their way to becoming a woken giant.

Miami
Miami is another historically good program whose success seems to come in spurts. They did really well in the 1980s and in the early 2000s, why not the 2020s? They are another school with tons of money and they might have the best location to attract kids. Mario Cristobal is a great recruiter and has already shown he can recruit well in South Florida. Many more kids want to stay home and play for the Hurricanes. Like Texas, Miami needs it to translate to the field. Another thing I would like to see from them is their own stadium, where they don’t have to share it.

Oregon
Oregon is a school with a unique advantage. They have the Nike advantage with Phil Knight being an Alumnus. They have used that very well to their advantage since the late 2000s with their uniforms and such, which has helped with their recruiting and national attention. They now have a very good recruiter, who came over from Georgia, in Dan Lanning as their head coach. They have started recruiting better since he arrived and they might be a school that owns the west coast.

Nebraska
Another historical program that hasn’t played up to standard in a long time. The Cornhuskers have been pitiful and will look to turn that around with Matt Rhule. He has a track record of turning around lackluster programs and will look to do that here. If he can, this might be a woken giant that can get back to competing. I have faith that Rhule was the right hire and can get the job done. It will take a lot to wake this giant up, but if he can, they could be really good again.

Texas A&M
Texas A&M is a sleeping giant for two main reasons. They have crazy fan support and investment in the program, and they have all the oil money they could have. They can put money into any aspect of their program and improve it instantly. If they can use their money right and invest in the right things, this program could be going places. I think they need to get their priorities straight and we’ll see if changes need to be made to the staff, but the Aggies are most definitely a sleeping Giant.
