1. DB Josh Wallace (UMass)

The skinny: Almost a month after the spring portal window closed, Wallace’s entry as a grad transfer quickly created a stir amongst many top programs. Wallace picked up offers from Penn State, Michigan, Oklahoma, Oregon State, Virginia Tech, Michigan State and Indiana hours after his entry, with more expected during the rest of the holiday weekend. It is too early to name favorites, but as usual, where he takes official visits to first will play a huge role in his final decision.

2. WR Zakhari Franklin (UTSA)

The skinny: With 262 receptions, 3,348 yards and 37 touchdowns during his collegiate career, Franklin has been busy since he officially entered the portal. However, it is somewhat surprising that he is still available. Florida State was the leader, but their addition of Keon Coleman (Michigan State) seems to have ended that pursuit. So, who should be watched now? Ole Miss and LSU remain in the picture, but Colorado is the most likely destination. However, the possibility of him returning to UTSA is also a realistic possibility.

Dec 2, 2022; San Antonio, Texas, USA; UTSA Roadrunners wide receiver Zakhari Franklin (4) catches a touchdown in the second half against the North Texas Mean Green at the Alamodome.

3. TE/WR Seydou Traore (Colorado)

The skinny: Traore has quickly become a veteran of the portal, as this is his second entry during this cycle. Initially making the move from Arkansas State to Colorado, Traore quickly re-entered the portal after a disagreement of his position in Boulder. Wanting to play wide receiver instead of tight end, Traore has picked up offers from Miami-Florida, Illinois, Oregon, Purdue, Washington State, Arkansas, East Carolina, Western Kentucky and North Texas since re-entering. Keep an eye on East Carolina, as they’ve made him a priority and caught his attention with their potential use of him in their offense.

Memphis Tigers defensive back Ladarian Paulk (23) and Memphis Tigers linebacker Davian Mayo (14) follow Arkansas State Red Wolves tight end Seydou Traore (18) as he runs the ball into the end zone during the first half of a Memphis Tigers game against the Arkansas State Red Wolves on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2022.

4. Avante Dickerson (Oregon)

The skinny: Since last picking up an offer from Wisconsin in early May, Dickerson has been relatively quiet. The offer from the Badgers joined previous offers from Minnesota and Indiana. A few other schools, such as Nebraska, Iowa, Fresno State and Illinois remain in the picture, but for now Wisconsin is his most likely destination.

5. RB Dae Dae Hunter (Liberty)

The skinny: Hunter quietly impressed in Hawaii, before transferring and doing it a bit louder with Liberty. While an injury cut his 2022 season short, he still showcased game-breaking ability with the Flames. Now having re-entered the portal, actually for a third time as he entered and withdrew during the winter, he is the top available running back in the portal. Having to apply for a waiver to play in 2023 due to his second pre-graduation transfer, his process has been sporadic, but a few schools to keep an eye on include Cal, Colorado, Troy, BYU, Toledo, Ole Miss and UAB.
