Prospects in the News

Nigel Smith II, DL, Melissa, TX (Melissa HS), #73 Nationally, #10 DL, #14 in Texas

On Monday, four-star defensive lineman Nigel Smith released a top eight which consists of Oklahoma, Texas, Rutgers, Penn State, Ohio State, Georgia, Texas A&M, and Arkansas.

As of right now, Oklahoma is the heavy favorite. However, Ohio State, Texas, and Texas A&M have all been pushing extremely hard and have done an excellent job of closing the gap. With all the momentum that the Buckeyes have on the recruiting trail right now, I think they may have a shot at turning the tides. Still, I believe that Smith will end up a Sooner.

Jordan Pride, Safety, Blountstown, FL (Blountstown HS), #84 Nationally, #6 Safety, #13 in Florida

On Sunday, four-star safety Jordan Pride released his top six schools, which included Texas A&M, Arkansas, Florida, Ole Miss, Alabama, and Tennessee. The Florida native was formerly committed to Florida State before he decommitted in April.

Texas A&M is by all accounts the leader in the clubhouse for Pride at this moment. The Aggies have several crystal balls in their favor from several recruiting experts around the country. Florida seems to be the number two, and with them being in-state, the Gators have a real shot at turning this thing around.

Channing Goodwin, WR, Charlotte, NC (Providence Day School), #512 Nationally, #72 WR, #15 in North Carolina

Last night, Channing Goodwin committed to the Michigan Wolverines. He is Michigan’s first wide receiver commit in the 2024 class. Goodwin is a Michigan legacy, and is a teammate of five-star QB commit Jadyn Davis.

Goodwin chose Michigan over the likes of Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Louisville, and North Carolina. The Wolverines currently hold the number one class in the 2024 recruiting rankings. This is a big pickup for Jim Harbaugh and the company, one that could make a massive impact later down the line.
