In today’s Fact or Fiction — NFL edition — I look at three big recent topics in the NFL and decide whether the statement is indeed FACT or if it’s FICTION.
1. Aaron Rodgers is worth a first round pick.
Farrell’s take: FACT
The Packers are holding out for one but they clearly don’t want to pay Rodgers as well while the Jets don’t want to trade one but are desperate for Rodgers. Even if he plays only a season, he’s worth it because this is a good team with an outside chance to make a sneaky playoff run. Just pull the trigger.

2. Bill O’Brien turns Mac Jones around.
Farrell’s take: FICTION
They made magic together at Alabama, but the NFL is different. Mac had the best talent in college football around him when he had his one massive season and was clearly a product of that talent in some ways. The Patriots have subpar talent, and there’s not a ton O’Brien can do to make him better in a nasty division and conference.

3. Jalen Hurts is a better investment than Lamar Jackson.
Farrell’s take: FACT
Jackson is the more dangerous player; that’s clear to me. But he’s also had more injury history, has less tread on the tires, and he never took the leaps Hurts did as a passer. Hurts new deal sets a bar of sorts after the ridiculous DeShaun Watson deal put everything out of whack, and it makes sense to lock him up. Jackson is worth similar money but wants more, and he’s not the better investment.
