In today’s Fact or Fiction — NFL Draft edition — I look at three big recent topics around the NFL Draft and decide whether the statement is indeed FACT or if it’s FICTION.
1. The Texans are a lock to take a QB at No. 2.
Farrell’s take: FICTION
Bryce Young will be gone. They aren’t sold on CJ Stroud, and the other three potential first rounders — Anthony Richardson, Will Levis, and Hendon Hooker — all have major question marks as far as upside. I think the Texans get a nice offer from someone who is quarterback-hungry and trade No. 2 for a bounty of picks, and willingly move back.

2. Bryce Young will be a star in Carolina.
Farrell’s take: FACT
I was wrong about Patrick Mahomes, so I’m not always right. But Mahomes had more question marks than Young despite the latter’s lack of size. Young’s pocket presence is unmatched in recent years in college football, and there are few QBs who just never panic, and he’s one of them. He won’t have a ton of talent around him at first, but I see a Trevor Lawrence kind of projection. As they build around Young, he will just get better.

3. Jake Haener will be an NFL starter in three years.
Farrell’s take: FACT
The Fresno State QB will be a mid-round pick and will land at a place like Detroit, New Orleans, Las Vegas, or New York (Jets) as a potential backup. But with each of those teams in less-than-stellar QB situations and the way injuries happen at the position, I have a sneaky suspicion Haener will be a Brock Purdy-like surprise starter within a few seasons. He’s not big, and he doesn’t wow you with anything, but he’s super confident, has a ton of experience, and has the smarts to really surprise a lot of people.
