We’re going to take a look at which Big 12 Teams have been consistent, are on the rise, and are in panic mode.
Consistent
Oklahoma
Oklahoma has won 11 out of 21 total Big 12 championship games. They have won four out of six since the game started back up in 2017. I know how their last season just went, but they have been consistent other than that. If Coach Venables can’t get things figured out, however, Oklahoma could find itself in panic mode real quick. The Sooners are the only Big 12 team I have as consistent, considering there have been three different champions in the past three seasons and six different teams that have made an appearance in the title game in that same amount of time.

On The Rise
TCU
The Horned Frogs surprised everyone, and I really do mean everyone, when they made the national championship game. This was also in just Sonny Dyke‘s first season at TCU. Due to this, they got a lot of good transfers coming in to mix in with the returning talent and incoming freshman class. TCU looks to have a bright future.

Kansas
Kansas hosted College Gameday this past season, and not in basketball. The Jayhawks started out 5-0 and their quarterback, Jalon Daniels, was playing great. He, unfortunately, got hurt and Kansas lost six out of their last seven games. I believe Kansas can build off of last season under Lance Leipold, who recently signed an extension. Daniels coming back helps their chances tremendously.

Texas Tech
The Red Raiders just had their best season since 2013 in Joey McGuire‘s first season as their head coach. They beat Texas, Oklahoma, and Ole Miss en route to an 8-5 record. I have only heard great things from Texas Tech fans and people around the program. There is definitely a lot of excitement in Lubbock.

In Panic Mode
West Virginia
Neal Brown hasn’t won more than six games in his four seasons as West Virginia’s head coach, going 5-7, 6-4, 6-7, and 5-7. Before that, the Mountaineers had only failed to win seven games in a season once since 2001. There have to be better results this upcoming season or Neal Brown could be shown the door.

Iowa State
I was debating if I should put Iowa State here, and I decided to do it because they seem to be taking steps back. After going 9-3 in 2020, the Cyclones went 7-6 in 2021 and 4-8 in 2022. The next season doesn’t look very optimistic either. I hope I’m wrong, but another season like the last, and Iowa State is in some real trouble.
