Draft Fact or Fiction: Seahawks Still Taking a QB, Lions’ Biggest Need, Tyree Wilson

In Mike Farrell’s Fact or Fiction — Draft Edition, he determines if Seattle will draft a quarterback…

In today’s Fact or Fiction — NFL Draft edition — I look at three big recent topics around the NFL Draft and decide whether the statement is indeed FACT or if it’s FICTION.

1. The Seahawks should take a QB at No. 5.

Farrell’s take: FACT

With Geno Smith signed now it’s a great opportunity for the Seahawks to go on a project like Anthony Richardson and allow him to develop. I’m not a big Will Levis fan this high and I don’t think either CJ Stroud or Bryce Young will fall to five so Richardson would be a perfect fit. But if any of the three I like are there, hop on them and allow them to learn under Geno.

2. The Lions should add to the defense.

Farrell’s take: FACT

I saw one mock having the Lions taking a QB and I kind of laughed. Jared Goff isn’t the problem. Add to the defense with a guy like Jalen Carter if he falls or add a CB like Christian Gonzalez and shore up a defense that needs more help than the offense.

3. Tyree Wilson is the best player no one talks about.

Farrell’s take: FICTION

He’s good, very good but I’ve seen him as high as No. 6 in some mocks and he will likely go off in the top 10. To me, it’s linebacker Trenton Simpson from Clemson. Simpson is 6-2 and 235, ran a 4.43 40, and showed his strength with 25 bench reps. The LB group doesn’t have a surefire leader and Simpson could sneak in here and be the top guy in the top 15. But you hear more about so many others it’s kind of puzzling.

Oct 8, 2022; Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, USA; Clemson Tigers defensive end Myles Murphy (98) rushes against the Boston College Eagles during the second quarter at Alumni Stadium.
