Mike Farrell’s Latest Recruiting Rumors: Dylan Raiola, Chris Ewald, Jerrick Gibson, and More

Mike Farrell drops his latest intel from the recruiting trail, including updates on Dylan Raiola, David Stone…

The Latest on Dylan Raiola

— Ok let’s start with QB Dylan Raiola right? So what exactly is happening here? The 5-star QB visits Nebraska and suddenly there are predictions he’ll end up with the Huskers. Then he visits USC and now he’s a strong Trojans lean. UGA had been the leader according to my sources but now they are running second it seems. However, this isn’t over.

Oregon is hoping to get a visit, Georgia is likely to get him back on campus as well before an early summer decision and Nebraska is always in play with his family ties. The Huskers visit was a good one, the USC an even better one but no one is really tied into this kid with a great source so you see these predictions after each visit. This is how it works. I’ve seen some kids who rave about each visit and it confuses you. That’s not Raiola. Of course, he likes every visit he takes, why wouldn’t he? But these predictions to Nebraka and USC are based on the confidence of the sources close to the staff and not much else. Meanwhile, UGA just sits and waits confidently for their last crack. I’d say USC leads but it’s a slight one over the Dawgs. But Raiola visits Georgia in early June. Watch out.

Chandler quarterback Dylan Raiola throws the ball against Corona del Sol during their game at Chandler High School on Friday, Sept. 9, 2022.

Chris Ewald Still Listening to Offers?

— 2025 CB Chris Ewald from Miami is committed to Michigan but this is far from over. Any 2025 commitment is far from over but I’m hearing he’s as soft a commitment as there is and Miami, FSU, and LSU are all charging. In fact, Michigan may have a disadvantage getting his commitment so early. How’s that? I’ve seen it before. Kids commit to a school early, they get all the attention from others and suddenly their commitment becomes boring and stale to them. I’m not saying Ewald is that kid but if I were betting right now I’d bet against Michigan in the long run.

Jerrick Gibson a Texas Lean?

— IMG 4-star RB Jerrick Gibson is a Texas lean I’m hearing. They lead over Alabama, Tennessee, and Georgia. Bijan Robinson’s NFL Draft status does not hurt and the Longhorns get his last visit on June 24. The IMG Academy standout hails from Florida but will leave the state. LSU and Ohio State are coming hard as well and could get visits which might shake things up.

Another Big-Time Georgia TE?

— ATH Amir Jackson is headed to Georgia barring a surprise. Florida and Florida State, and Auburn are pushing hard but Jackson wants to play TE, he grew up a Dawgs fan and hails from Georgia. They have a big lead.

New Leader for David Stone

— Brandon Jordan, the pass-rushing specialist for Michigan State was the reason 5-star DL David Stone liked the Spartans. Now that he’s gone to the NFL, Oklahoma has the clear edge here. And while I feel strongly he will be a Sooner, there are rumors that his family wants him out of state. While he plays for IMG in Florida, he hails from Oklahoma City and some say his family wants him away from some local hangers-on. I don’t think this keeps him away from the Sooners but it’s something to keep an eye on. But losing Jordan is a big blow to the Spartans.
