In today’s Fact or Fiction — Recruiting Edition — I look at three big recent topics from the recruiting trail and decide whether the statement is indeed FACT or if it’s FICTION.
1. QB Dylan Raiola is a USC lean.
Farrell’s take: FACT
Let’s not get it twisted, okay, UGA is still very much in here, and I’ve given Nebraska around a 15% chance to land him as a legacy. But his recent USC visit went so well that he’s leaning there now. It’s closer to home, it’s Big Ten (he was committed to Ohio State), and it allows him to be developed as a Heisman candidate and high NFL Draft pick. Nebraska has family and Georgia has national titles, so they are still in play, but the Trojans have become No. 1 because Lincoln Riley develops QBs better than anyone.

2. Alabama leads for WR Ryan Wingo now.
Farrell’s take: FICTION
He liked Alabama for sure, but to me, the Missouri WR is still a lean to Tennessee. He’s wide open and has many schools on his mind, and Tommy Rees recruited him well at Notre Dame and will continue to do so at Alabama, but I still think he’s enamored with that Vols offense. I could be wrong, and he plays his cards close to the vest, but until someone really wows him, I’ll have him as a Vols lean.

3. LB Jordan Lockhart is leaning to USC.
Farrell’s take: FACT
The former Ole Miss commit visited USC and Alabama before making his choice to back off from the Rebels, and I’m hearing it was the visit to the Trojans that changed things. The St. John Bosco product likes Alabama as well, and the SEC is a draw, but let’s not forget that USC is moving to the Big Ten, and the thought of playing big-time football against Ohio State, Michigan, and others is as intriguing as the SEC to him. There’s a long way to go, but USC turned his head.
