In today’s Fact or Fiction — NFL edition — I look at three big recent topics in the NFL and decide whether the statement is indeed FACT or if it’s FICTION.
1. Aaron Rodgers returns to the Packers.
Farrell’s take: FICTION
I don’t think the Packers want him anymore, honestly, and I think they will try to dump his awful cap number to another team. The drama each season is enough, and Jordan Love needs a season of evaluation as the team decides whether to rebuild around him or find a new QB. But it seems clear Green Bay won’t be a contender even with Rodgers under center, so the time to move on is now.

2. Lamar Jackson gets traded.
Farrell’s take: FACT
He has to. The Ravens have until Tuesday to agree on a deal with Jackson or franchise him, and I don’t see either happening. They seem far off on the guaranteed money for a long-term deal, and if they hit him with an exclusive franchise tag, he’s never going to play for them. It’s time to get the best package you can get for him from a team that’s willing to give him that DeShaun Watson deal he wants.

3. Mike McCarthy calling plays makes Dak Prescott elite.
Farrell’s take: FICTION
Dak Prescott has never been elite and never will be, so it doesn’t matter. He’s an average QB, and whether it’s Kellen Moore or McCarthy or Andy Reid, it won’t help. McCarthy is frustrated, and trying to get the most out of his guy and taking over play-calling duties is a move of desperation. And it won’t work. Dak is good for one or two awful decisions every game, and calling plays can’t change that.
