In today’s Fact or Fiction, I look at three big recent topics in college football and decide whether the statement is indeed FACT or if it’s FICTION.

1. Quinn Ewers breaks out this season.

Farrell’s take: FACT

The mullet is gone and so is the overthinking for the super talented Texas QB. Arch Manning won’t be pushing him as the word on the street is that the family wants Arch to redshirt but he won’t be needed anyhow. Ewers teased us a bit against Alabama and in other games but he also made some baffling mistakes. He wasn’t even a top five rated QB in the Big 12 so that’s no good but I think the light does on this year. His arm talent is exceptional but this isn’t a Will Levis situation. He sees the field better and has a better grasp of timing and I think a 30 touchdown season with less than 5 picks can happen. And if it does happen the NFL will be drooling.

2. Clemson is still the favorite in the ACC.

Farrell’s take: FACT

FSU is on the rise and will be dangerous and I honestly think they win the ACC next season. But that doesn’t mean Clemson won’t be the favorite and rightly so. Clemson has had some offensive issues since Trevor Lawrence left but they still have the most talented roster in the conference and deserve the respect given to a team that has beaten FSU regularly in recent years. FSU wins it but Clemson is the pre season favorite.

Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney is interviewed by ESPN near quarterback Cade Klubnik (2), game MVP, after the game with North Carolina in the ACC Championship football gameat Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina Saturday, Dec 3, 2022. Clemson won 39-10.

3. Alabama could lose three games next season.

Farrell’s take: FACT

It could happen. Why? The QB situation is in flux. This is a team that lost two games last season with the arguably the best QB they’ve ever had. So now? Jalen Milroe will need to improve his accuracy or Ty Simpson will need to bust out as a first year starter for this offense to dominate. Texas, LSU, Ole Miss and Tennessee are all challenging and keep in mind a loss in the SEC title game could possibly be No. 3. It would happen.

Oct 1, 2022; Fayetteville, Arkansas, USA; Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Jalen Milroe (4) rushes in the fourth quarter against the Arkansas Razorbacks at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium. Alabama won 49-26.
