Prospects in the News

Zion Kearney, WR, Missouri City, TX (Hightower HS), #63 Nationally, #8 WR, #10 in Texas

On Friday, top 100 WR Zion Kearney cut his offer list down to six schools. Those schools are Nebraska, LSU, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Texas A&M, and Houston. The On3 recruiting prediction machine currently has him going to Texas A&M, but there’s still a lot of time left to go.

The 6-3, 195-pounder caught 39 catches for 765 yards and eight touchdowns in 2022. It’ll be an interesting recruitment to keep an eye on going forward.

Marcus Goree Jr, CB, Cleveland, TN (Bradley Central HS), #463 Nationally, #61 ATH, #10 in Tennessee

On Saturday, nationally rated defensive back Marcus Goree Jr. pledged to the University of Tennessee. The 6-0.5, 170-pound defensive back had a pretty good list of offers, including the likes of Michigan, Nebraska, and Colorado. Goree is already bought into the culture at Tennessee, telling 247 Sports, “We want to win a Natty. To bring a Natty back to the home state would be very special” It’ll be interesting to see how fast the youngster can get on the field in Knoxville. He has a lot of talent, and this is a big pickup for Tennessee.

Aaron Chiles, LB, Olney, MD (Our Lady Good Counsel HS), #68 Nationally, #6 LB, #1 in Maryland

Big-time linebacker prospect Aaron Chiles has begun to lock in official visits for the summer. He holds several offers from big-time programs like Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, you name it. He’s recently planned two official visits over the month of June. The first stop will be in Gainesville, Florida to visit the Gators from June 16-18. One week later, he will head up to Ann Arbor to visit Jim Harbaugh and the Michigan Wolverines. Chiles has also expressed interest in a visit to Notre Dame, so that’s something to keep an eye on. On3’s recruiting prediction machine currently favors Michigan by a heavy margin, giving the Wolverines an 87.3 percent chance to land the Maryland phenom. There’s certainly a lot of time left, but as of right now, I believe that Michigan lands him.

Anelu Lafaele, EDGE, Honolulu, HI (St. Louis HS), #18 EDGE, #2 in Hawaii

Anelu Lafaele‘s recruitment has exploded over the past few months. In January, he earned offers from the likes of Tennessee, Washington, and BYU. He also received offers from Oklahoma and Notre Dame in December. He’s set up several unofficial visits over the past week or so, including visits to Oklahoma, Oregon, USC, and Washington. More notably, he has officials scheduled with both Wisconsin and Notre Dame. He’ll travel to Madison on June second, and to South Bend on June 16th. As of right now, I have the Irish as the heavy favorite. The Notre Dame offer holds a ton of weight to him, and he even went as far as describing it as his “dream offer.” Obviously, there’s still a lot of time for things to change, but it’ll be hard to top Marcus Freeman and co. when it’s all said and done.
