Some recruiting rumors I’m hearing lately from the recruiting trail.
Not only do the Oklahoma Sooners lead for IMG Academy DT David Stone (an Oklahoma native) but they lead for in-state DE Xadavien Sims as well. Oddly enough their biggest competitor for both is Michigan State. These two don’t often battle for recruits so it’s an intriguing matchup. Others are in play for both, of course, but I like where the Sooners stand.
Two of the most impressive edge defenders at today’s Michigan State camp. First guy is 2024 Xadavien Sims, second is 2026 Colton Yarbrough. Both from Oklahoma. @seancooper_C4 pic.twitter.com/BR4HGnOLZF

QB Julian Sayin is still being recruited by many schools but his commitment to Alabama is strong despite the offensive coordinator change. Sayin liked Tommy Rees a lot when he was recruiting him for Notre Dame.

Texas LB Justin Williams has come close to committing to Dan Lanning and Oregon a few times already and I’d be stunned if anyone else can challenge this lead. Texas and Texas A&M are trying hard though.

DE Brandon Davis-Swain narrowed his list to 11 but the former Notre Dame commit has the Irish, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Colorado on top. Don’t believe everything you hear about Notre Dame not being interested anymore. Yes the burn of Keon Keeley still stings and Davis-Swain wanted to be committed and visit many others, but this door hasn’t shut entirely. I don’t think he ends up back at Notre Dame but my sources say it’s not entirely out of the question on either side.

And finally, watch out for Penn State in the battle for LB Jeremiah Beasley from Michigan. He was expected to commit in March but has pushed it back to late June. Michigan State was likely to be the destination for a March decision with Tennessee not far behind but now Penn State has jumped into the mix and will get an official. They’ve pulled a few surprises from Michigan in recent years.
Cincinnati, Michigan St, Pitt and Michigan are among many schools showing early interest in 2024 LB Jeremiah Beasley.
