Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh celebrates scoring a two point conversion against Purdue during the second half of the Big Ten Championship game against Purdue at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis
Michigan Head Coach Jim Harbaugh.

The first portal window is over, and the next one isn’t until April 15. I kicked off the rankings yesterday with the SEC, so here’s the Big Ten today.

1. Michigan

— I love what Jim Harbaugh has done here, especially in the trenches, with three solid OL led by LaDarius Henderson from Arizona State. On defense, they have a great 1-2 punch of DL Josiah Stewart from Coastal Carolina and LB Ernest Hausmann from Nebraska.

Nov 19, 2022; Lincoln, Nebraska, USA; Wisconsin Badgers tight end Jack Eschenbach (82) is brought down by Nebraska Cornhuskers linebacker Ernest Hausmann (15) during the second quarter at Memorial Stadium.

2. Wisconsin

— SMU QB Tanner Mordecai is obviously the big get here with USC transfer WR CJ Williams also key to the change of offense under Luke Fickell.

Nov 26, 2022; Dallas, Texas, USA; Southern Methodist Mustangs quarterback Tanner Mordecai (8) passes the ball against the Memphis Tigers during the first half at Gerald J. Ford Stadium.

3. Nebraska

— QB Jeff Sims adds depth but I really like DE MJ Sherman and OL Jacob Hood from Georgia as well as taking a shot at super talented TE Arik Gilbert also from the Dawgs.

Oct 20, 2022; Atlanta, Georgia, USA; Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets quarterback Jeff Sims (10) throws a pass against the Virginia Cavaliers in the first half at Bobby Dodd Stadium.

4. Michigan State

— DE Tunmise Adeleye is the headliner from Texas A&M but keep an eye on RB Nathan Carter from UConn who could be a steal.

Sep 10, 2022; College Station, Texas, USA; Appalachian State Mountaineers running back Camerun Peoples (6) rushes against Texas A&M Aggies defensive lineman Tunmise Adeleye (30) in the second quarter at Kyle Field.

5. Maryland

— WR Kaden Prather from West Virginia could be elite and the upside of DB Avantae Williams from Miami and the plug and play skill from CB Ja’Quan Sheppard from Cincinnati can’t be ignored.

Sep 10, 2022; Morgantown, West Virginia, USA; West Virginia Mountaineers wide receiver Kaden Prather (3) during the fourth quarter against the Kansas Jayhawks at Mountaineer Field at Milan Puskar Stadium.
