1. Fentrell Cypress (Virginia to Florida State)

The skinny: Not only did Florida State fill an important positional need by adding Cypress, they did so by signing one of the more talented cornerbacks in the ACC. Coming off a season when he finished with 39 tackles and a conference-leading 14 pass breakups, while playing in only nine games, he should immediately become a vital part of the Seminoles defense this fall.

2. Denver Harris (Texas A&M to LSU)

The skinny: Reloading the secondary was a priority for the Tigers during this transfer cycle, so adding Harris, who has two seasons of eligibility remaining, was major get. He oozes potential, so despite only playing in five games during his true freshman season at Texas A&M, the former five-star will have an opportunity to flourish in Baton Rouge.

3. Jalen Catalon (Arkansas to Texas)

The skinny: While injuries have been a concern, if he is able to stay on the field in 2023, the Longhorns added a huge piece to their defensive puzzle in 2023. Catalon enjoyed an All-American caliber season in 2020, but shoulder injuries in both 2021 and 2022 limited him to only seven games. With Anthony Cook moving onto the NFL, Catalon will slide into a starting safety spot and help anchor the Longhorns’ defense.

4. Davison Igbinosun (Ole Miss to Ohio State)

The skinny: Igbinosun showed flashes of future stardom during his true freshman season with the Rebels, finishing with 37 tackles and five pass breakups. Adding the talented young defensive back will likely prove to be a big addition in 2023 for the Buckeyes and even a bigger one in 2024 as he continues to mature his game.

Dec 28, 2022; Houston, Texas, USA;Texas Tech Red Raiders wide receiver Jerand Bradley (9) is tackled by Mississippi Rebels cornerback Davison Igbinosun (20) in the first half in the 2022 Texas Bowl at NRG Stadium.

5. Tysheem Johnson (Ole Miss to Oregon)

The skinny: While a bit undersized, Johnson more than proved his abilities during his two seasons at Ole Miss. During this time, he totaled 125 tackles, eight tackles for a loss, one interception and three pass breakups. He will immediately provide some needed physicality to the Ducks’ secondary and should become one of the better defensive backs in the PAC-12.

Oct 2, 2021; Tuscaloosa, Alabama, USA; Alabama Crimson Tide running back Brian Robinson Jr. (4) is tackled by Mississippi Rebels defensive back Tysheem Johnson (27) during the second half of an NCAA college football game at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
