First, the Buckeyes 2023 Recruiting class was not the best but not the worst. The talent is through the roof, and fans are sleeping on this class. It has so much potential.

Starting it off with the QB, the Buckeyes had many targets throughout the process and commits but ended up landing only one, four-star QB Lincoln Kienholz. A late push from the Buckeyes made him flip his commitment from Washington to Ohio State. The Buckeyes also landed Oregon State QB Tristan Gebbia. Throughout the 2023 Class, the Buckeyes had a commitment from three-star QB Brock Glenn, but after talking with the staff he backed off of it and ended up at Florida State. Kienholz has brought a lot of excitement to his name and has already drawn comparisons to Former Buckeye and current Bengals QB Joe Burrow. In the 2024 class, I expect them to get an elite QB.

Moving on from the QBs, the running back class had a fall-off. Unfortunately, we didn’t land any big-time names but got a walk-on commitment from three-star RB Willtrell Hartson, he picked a PWO offer over many other scholarship offers. But the Buckeyes had many misses at the RB position including losing four-star Mark “Q” Fletcher to Miami, a late desperate push for Texas A&M Signee, five-star Reuben Owens, and missing out on Texas signee, five-star Cedric Baxter’s top schools, five-star Alabama signee Justice Haynes and missing on four-star Alabama signee Richard Young. But getting Hartson is still a good get for the Buckeyes and I expect them to land two backs in the 2024 class.

Now, this clearly was the best part of the 2023 Class, starting off with four talented receivers. This class brought in five-star Brandon Inniss, five-star Carnell Tate, five-star Noah Rogers, and four-star Bryson Rodgers. Inniss at one point was committed to Oklahoma until Lincoln Riley left, and the Trojans couldn’t pull it off. Carnell Tate was perceived to be a “Tennessee lock” per some Tennessee fans and insiders, but he ended up a Buckeye. Noah Rogers decided between the Buckeyes and NC State and he was a Brian Hartline special. Then Bryson Rodgers gets to return back home and gets to ball out. This WR is insanely talented and the potential for 2024 is through the roof as they already have a commitment from five-star Jeremiah Smith, the No. 1 WR in the nation.

The TE Class was the last one for Coach Wilson as he left for Tulsa but Coach Bailey has it covered. Four-star TE Jelani Thurman makes this TE Class elite, he is arguably one of the best TEs in the nation and his ability to be a receiver is off the charts. Although they lost four-star TE Ty Lockwood to Alabama, his dream school. This class is still really good, now if everything goes to plan in 2024 the Buckeyes will land two TEs but don’t panic if we only land one.

Coach Frye’s first class was a simple starting class and it couldn’t have been a better starting class, he brought in a bunch of instate talent. Frye brought in four-star Luke Montgomery and three-star Miles Walker at OT, and at the IOL he brought in four-star Josh Padilla and four-star Austin Siereveld. He also added ULM transfer Victor Cutler at OT. This class isn’t the best according to the recruiting rankings, but this was his first class and it was a high-quality class. In the 2024 class, his offensive line is getting noticed and putting the Buckeyes on many top prospects’ radars in the 2024 class.

Now, this EDGE class had a few tough misses on a bunch of prospects such as five-star Alabama Signee Keon Keeley, five-star Oregon signee Matayo Uiagalelei, and more. But the Buckeyes landed four-star Joshua Mickens, after flipping him from LSU. Now Mickens will most likely play JACK when he gets to Columbus but this class could’ve been better. In 2024 I expect them to haul in a way better, and larger class.

The DL Class was way better than the EDGE class and we got some elite talent in it. Including a steal from Notre Dame in four-star Jason Moore who went to the same high school as Ohio State legend Chase Young. Joining Moore would be Buckeye legacy four-star Will Smith Jr and four-star Kayden McDonald who was a steal from Michigan. All three are expected to be huge impacts once they develop. In 2024, I expect the Buckeyes to have another good DL Class.

In the LB class, the Buckeyes only brought in one LB and that one LB was four-star Arvell Reese. The biggest miss was four-star USC signee, Tackett Curtis. It was Jim Knowles‘ first class and with the addition of James Laurinitas coming in, I think the 2024 class has potential. However, the misses in this class are not excusable, like Tackett Curtis and four-star UGA signee Troy Bowles.

Moving onto the DBs, the Buckeyes made an underrated DB class not even including the transfers. Just in prep recruiting, the Buckeyes added four-star Jermaine Matthews, four-star Calvin Simpson-Hunt, four-star Jayden Bonsu, and four-star Cedrick Hawkins. Matthews has been called the next Ohio Great, Simpson-Hunt only allowed one catch this year, and it was for negative yardage, Bonsu is a cold man and hard hitter, and Hawkins has the physical traits to be a great safety if developed right. The Buckeyes lost two huge targets, first four-star Dijon Johnson to Florida and then four-star Kayin Lee to Auburn. However, the portal was a huge win for the Buckeyes, as they picked up four-star Syracuse transfer Ja’Had Carter, who was arguably one of the best defensive backs in the ACC and they also added All-SEC four-star Ole Miss transfer Davison Igbinosun, who was a key to the Ole Miss secondary and a great corner.

Finally, for the special teams, the Buckeyes didn’t do much. They added Arizona State transfer LS John Ferlmann who will most likely have a key role due to Mason Arnold transferring to Michigan State.
