This article covers our rankings of the five best transfer portal recruiting classes in the soon-to-be Big 12 conference.

TCU

TCU has done a fantastic job of capitalizing on its success on the field. They’ve done well, bringing in impact players through the transfer portal that will immediately make a difference for the Horned Frogs in 2023. Headlined by offensive lineman Tommy Brockermeyer, this TCU transfer portal class has done a great job of filling holes caused by roster turnover and players declaring for the NFL. Other notable names include Trey Sanders, JoJo Earle, and John Paul Richardson.

Oklahoma State

Despite losing some key players to the portal, Oklahoma State has recruited the portal well. They’ve brought some offensive line help by landing the likes of Dalton Cooper and Noah McKinney. What I like the most about this class is that they didn’t over-recruit one position. They brought in a plethora of players on both sides of the ball, and they have done an excellent job of patching some holes. Notable names include De’Zhaun Stribling, Anthony Goodlow, and Alan Bowman.

Baylor

Baylor has brought in a lot of offensive talent through the transfer portal so far. Guys like Dominic Richardson, Clark Barrington, and Jake Roberts should have a sizeable impact on Baylor in 2023. The biggest issue with their transfer class so far is the lack of defensive players. They’ve only brought in two defenders out of their nine commitments, despite the lack of production on the defensive side of the ball in 2022. Still, they were able to bring in some playmakers on offense, which is why they’re rated so highly on the list.

The Best Way to End the Scheduling Debate

BYU

Though they haven’t exactly been extremely active in the portal, BYU has picked up some solid additions so far. With the departure of Jaren Hall, there was a gaping hole left in the QB room. To patch that hole, the Cougars went out and landed Pitt transfer Kedon Slovis. Although he isn’t an elite game-changer by any means, Slovis is still a serviceable signal caller that could serve as a bridge QB for BYU until they find someone else. Other notable names include Aidan Robbins and Isaiah Bagnah.

Cincinnati

Cincinnati is in a similar position as BYU. They haven’t gotten many elite players, but they’ve done a decent job of getting bodies in the program. They landed former Florida and Arizona State QB Emory Jones, who could be a solid player until they land a better guy. They’ve also landed the likes of D.J. Taylor and Keyshawn Helton, two players that will have an opportunity to have an immediate impact on the Bearcats in 2023. We’ll see if Scott Satterfield can land any big names later on to give them a boost, but as of now, Cincinnati’s transfer class has been somewhat mediocre.
