This article covers five players from the 2023 recruiting class that project to be early contributors in their college careers.
Dante Moore – QB – UCLA
Dante Moore is one of the most prolific QBs in the entire 2023 class. Ranked as a consensus top 10 recruit, the high school phenom racked up over 30 touchdowns in the 2022 season. With the departure of Dorian Thompson-Robinson, the QB spot is wide open. Pair that with the fact that he’ll be coached by Chip Kelly, and I believe that Moore has the talent to come in and be the starter from day one.

Cedric Baxter Jr. – RB – Texas
Coming in at number two, we have Texas signee, Cedric Baxter. Baxter is widely regarded as the best running back in the 2023 class. He can do a little bit of everything, and he has even received comparisons to guys like Joe Mixon from 247 recruiting analyst Andrew Ivins. With superstar backs Bijan Robinson and Roschon Johnson declaring for the NFL Draft, there is definitely a void to fill for Texas in the backfield. Baxter already has quite a bit of weight on him, and he’ll only add more over the offseason. He may not be RB1, but Baxter should get plenty of touches in 2023.

Suntarine Perkins – LB – Ole Miss
Suntarine Perkins comes in as the highest-rated commit in Ole Miss’s 2023 class. The linebacker out of Raleigh, Mississippi is currently rated as the number two linebacker in the nation by the 247 composite ratings. This was a massive win for the Rebels on the recruiting trail, as they’ve found their defensive anchor for the years to come. Linebacker Troy Brown has exhausted the rest of his eligibility, so the linebacker room is a bit thin. I don’t expect him to be the full-time starter, but I do expect Perkins to contribute quite a bit.

Jaden Rashada – QB – Florida
Jaden Rashada is another player that could make a push for a starting position in 2023. The Gators signee is considered one of the best pure passers in what is an absolutely loaded cycle at the QB position. Anthony Richardson announced that he will be declaring for the 2023 NFL Draft, and with some of the other Florida QBs leaving the program, there are a lot of questions about who the starter will come September. Rashada has the arm talent, that much is for certain. The only question will be whether or not he has the mental capacity required to be a starter from day one.

Anthony Hill – LB – Texas
Last on the list is Texas commit Anthony Hill. Hill is the number one linebacker in the 2023 class, and for good reason. Hill has great length and athleticism, and he showcases physicality and violence at the point of attack. With longtime starter Demarion Overshown declaring for the NFL Draft, Texas has a hole to fill. Who better to fill that hole than the number one ‘backer in the entire class? Anthony Hill has the potential to start immediately and make a big splash for the Longhorns.
