Prospects in the News

–Nyckoles Harbor, ATH, Washington, D.C. (Archbishop Carroll), #16 nationally, #1 athlete, and #1 in DC

Nyckoles Harbor, a five-star Washington (D.C.) athlete and one of the highest remaining uncommitted recruits in the 2023 class, will be in Eugene the last weekend of January for an official visit with the Oregon Ducks. He has already announced a top-five list that included the Ducks, Maryland Terrapins, Michigan Wolverines, South Carolina Gamecocks, and USC Trojans. The Gamecocks are the favorites according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine has the Wolverines and Gamecocks as the top two teams to land him. However, the Ducks could be the team to beat due to their football and track programs and the Nike brand. Harbor will announce his commitment on February 1st, and I like the Ducks here.

There is some "buzz" around Oregon for 5-star athlete Nyckoles Harbor according to On3's @ChadSimmons_?

–Johann Cardenas, 2024 RB, Houston, Texas (St. Thomas HS), #283 nationally, #24 running back, and 41 in TX

Johann Cardenas committed to the Texas Tech Red Raiders on Thursday night. He is a four-star 2024 running back from Houston (TX.) and chose the Red Raiders over the Colorado Buffaloes, SMU Mustangs, and UTSA Roadrunners. He is the No. 41 rated player in Texas and now the highest-rated recruit in the Red Raiders 2024 class, currently ranked sixth.

–Charleston Collins, 2024 DL, Little Rock, Arkansas (Wilbur D. Mills HS), #230 nationally, #24 defensive lineman, and #3 in AR

Charleston Collins will be busy here in January. The four-star 2024 defensive lineman from Little Rock (AR.) will visit three schools this month. His first will be this weekend with the Arkansas Razorbacks. Then, Collins will head to Austin next weekend to visit the Texas Longhorns and finish up with the Ole Miss Rebels on January 28th. He has been to Oxford once before and says he has a good relationship with Rebels defensive line coach Randall Joyner.

“Coach Joyner, that’s my guy. Ole Miss was my third offer, so we’ve really gotten close. There aren’t many things you can say bad about Coach Joyner. In general, I like our fatherhood-like conversations.”

–Elijah Rushing, 2024 EDGE, Tucson, Arizona (Salpointe Catholic), #16 nationally, #3 edge, and #2 in AZ

Elijah Rushing, who received an offer from the Ohio State Buckeyes on Wednesday, is another prospect who will have a busy month of January, as he will be making three unofficial visits. He is a five-star 2024 edge from Tucson (AZ.) and the number-two player in the state and will visit his hometown Arizona Wildcats this weekend. Next weekend, he will be in College Station to visit the Texas A&M Aggies and then head to Seattle to visit the Washington Huskies on January 28. According to the On3 RPM, the Wildcats are the current leaders to land him, as they have a 24% chance. The Oregon Ducks are next at 16%. So I give Arizona the edge right now too.

–Nigel Smith II, 2024 DL, Melissa, Texas (Melissa HS), #36 nationally, #6 defensive lineman, and #5 in TX

Four-star 2024 Melissa (TX.) defensive lineman Nigel Smith II will visit the Oregon Ducks and Oklahoma Sooners later this month. He is the fifth-rated player in Texas and will be in Eugene on January 21 to visit the Ducks for the first time. The following weekend he will be in Norman to visit the Sooners, where he has already been multiple times. However, the Ohio State Buckeyes are the current leaders to land him. The On3 RPM has them with a 27% chance of landing him, followed by the Sooners at 16%. The 247 Sports Crystal Ball also has the Sooners in the lead. His recruitment could be a three-team race between the Buckeyes, Ducks, and Sooners.
