Names in the News

–Ashton Porter, DL, Cypress, Texas (Cy Ranch HS), #329 nationally, #45 defensive lineman, and #57 in TX

Four-star Texas defensive lineman Ashton Porter will commit on January 3 when he plays in the Under Armour All-American game, and the Oregon Ducks look like the team to beat. He officially visited Eugene on December 16 and said it was a great visit,

“My highlight from the visit was going to Coach Lanning’s house. And spending time with players and the other recruits.”

The Ducks currently have the No. 11 ranked class, and if they can add Porter, it would move them into the top ten. I like the Duck’s chances of landing him.

–Ny Carr, 2024 WR, Moultrie, Georgia (Colquitt County HS), #67 nationally, #9 wide receiver, and #12 in GA

Four-star 2024 Georgia wide receiver Ny Carr picked up an offer from the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on Tuesday night. He has been committed to the Georgia Bulldogs since July 5th, choosing the defending national champions over the Florida Gators, Miami Hurricanes, Michigan Wolverines, Ohio State Buckeyes, Penn State Nittany Lions, Texas A&M Aggies, and USC Trojans, among others. Carr is part of the Bulldogs 2024 class, with currently six recruits, and ranks third overall.

The Best Way to End the Scheduling Debate

Caleb Mitchell-Irving, 2024 DL, Dallas, Texas (Parish Episcopal School), #314 nationally, #28 defensive lineman, and #47 in TX

On Wednesday morning, Matt Rhule and the Nebraska Cornhuskers offered Caleb Mitchell-Irving, a four-star defensive lineman from Dallas (TX.). He has over 20 offers, and the Texas A&M Aggies and Texas Longhorns are the top two teams to land him. The On3 RPM has the Aggies with a 30% chance to land him, while the Longhorns have a 26% chance. The TCU Horned Frogs are also in the mix at 15%, and Mitchell-Irving has visited all three programs multiple times.

–Caleb Odom, 2024 TE, Carrollton, Georgia (Carrollton HS), #245 nationally, #13 tight end, and #36 in GA

Four-star 2024 Georgia tight end received an offer from the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on Thursday night. He has 26 offers but wants to play football and basketball in college. Odom said,

“Playing basketball and football is really big for me, I want to showcase my talent for both in college, so any college that could offer both is definitely up top.”

The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine has the Yellow Jackets with a 22.2% chance of landing him, followed by the Vanderbilt Commodores at 19.4%.

–Bryce West, 2024 CB, Cleveland, Ohio (Glenville HS), #27 nationally, #4 cornerback, and #1 in OH

The Oregon Ducks offered Bryce West on Tuesday night. West is a five-star 2024 cornerback from Ohio who currently has 21 offers. The Ohio State Buckeyes are the leaders to land him, according to the On3 RPM, which gives them a whopping 98.6% chance of landing him. The Buckeyes currently have one recruit in their 2024 class, while the Ducks have four and are ranked sixth. However, despite it being early in the process, I like the Buckeyes here too.
