Recruiting Fact or Fiction: Cormani McClain to Colorado, Peyton Bowen, Buckeyes Limping

In Mike Farrell’s Fact or Fiction — Recruiting Edition, he analyzes whether Cormani McClain will end up…

Cormani McClain was committed to the University of Miami for several months last recruiting cycle and had a Miami National Letter of Intent and a UM logo cake for his signing on Early Signing Day and he never showed up. He signed with Colorado two months later after being flipped by Coach Prime.

In today’s Fact or Fiction — Recruiting Edition — I look at three big recent topics from the recruiting trail and decide whether the statement is indeed FACT or if it’s FICTION.

1. Cormani McClain will land in Colorado.

Farrell’s take: FICTION

I don’t think this happens despite the rumors. McClain delayed signing on Wednesday but I think he sticks with Miami by the weekend. He’s a hard one to read as his original Miami commitment was a shocker over Florida so anything can happen but Mario Cristobal won’t let this kid get away.

Lakeland’s Cormani McClain puts on the baseball cap after choosing Miami.

2. Peyton Bowen lands at Oregon.

Farrell’s take: FACT

Bowen hasn’t played this well. He was committed to Notre Dame forever but flirted with numerous schools the whole time. Then on Wednesday he mocked Notre Dame by putting on their hat before saying nah and putting on a Ducks hat. As of this writing he hasn’t signed with the Ducks as well and is rumored to be reconsidering Notre Dame. I think he sticks with the Ducks in the end however.

3. The Buckeyes limped to the finish.

Farrell’s take: FACT

It didn’t finish as well as hoped with missing on Matayo Uiagalelei, Damon Wilson and losing Kayin Lee. Buckeyes fans aren’t thrilled with Ryan Day and this doesn’t help even though it’s still a great class. But given this finish and the loss of 2024 QB Dylan Raiola it’s not a great look.
