Following David Shaw’s departure, we saw a flood of Stanford players to the portal, including quality starters. Let’s look at some of the top transfers coming from the Pac-12. Keep in mind, that these rankings are based on a mix of past production and potential with an emphasis on proven success in college. All referenced rankings are credited to 247sports.com.
10. P Edward Czaplicki, Arizona State, 2021 #13 K
Let’s start this list with some special team love, as Edward Czaplicki announced his decision to transfer to USC. The punter recently earned All-Pac-12 First Team for the 2022 season, as he averaged the longest yards per punt in the conference with 46 YPP, ranking seventh in the country. Czaplicki looks to strengthen the Trojans’ special teams in a playoff push next season.
After much prayer and consideration, I am 100% committed to the University of Southern California. Thank you to Coach Lincoln Riley for this opportunity! #FightOn✌️ pic.twitter.com/a4vYk5yizM

9. DE Stephen Herron, Stanford, 2019 #141 nationally, #7 WDE
2022: 37 tackles (18 solos), 5.5 sacks, 2 forced fumbles

Stephen Herron earned an All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention this season, looking to provide value on a defense elsewhere. The Kentucky native has found interest from home-state schools (Kentucky and Louisville), Virginia, UCLA, Notre Dame, and others. Herron is visiting Louisville this upcoming weekend, who look to further themselves in the lead from the presumed number two team, Notre Dame.

8. OT Ben Scott, Arizona State, 2019 #1758 nationally, #150 OT
Ben Scott, a three-year starter for the Sun Devils, has emerged as a target for schools like Nebraska and Virginia. Entering with two years of eligibility left, Scott will look to provide experience for an offensive line lacking depth.
Nebraska hosted Arizona State offensive lineman Ben Scott this weekend. He's started 28 games for the Sun Devils at both center and right tackle. https://t.co/aeeGhvWRbN #Huskers

7. IOL Drake Nugent, Stanford, 2019 #1141 nationally, #15 OC
Drake Nugent served as a valuable piece for the Stanford offensive line during his time as a Cardinal, starting the last 24 games. The two-year starter was an All-Pac-12 Honorable mention and will be a very solid pickup for whoever swoops in. Nugent has had a quiet recruiting process since entering the portal, but he is most certainly capable of being a top piece on the offense at a major school.

88.4—Brett Neilon, USC
80.7—Drake Nugent, Stanford
77.8—Jake Levengood, Ore St

6. OT Myles Hinton, Stanford, 2020 (#74 nationally, #6 OT)
Another big piece on the Stanford offensive line was Myles Hinton, who came in as a highly touted prospect and proved his high ranking through his play on the field. Hinton was a nine-game starter in 2021, starting seven in 2022 (missed five due to injury). Similarly to fellow Stanford linemen, Hinton’s portal recruitment has been quiet but expect the former top-100 player to land at a big school.

5. LB Justin Flowe, Oregon, 2020 (#6 nationally, #1 ILB)
2022: 35 tackles (14 solos)
Justin Flowe is accompanied by his younger brother, Jonathan Flowe, in the portal. The two appear to be a package deal, taking a visit to Arizona together this week. Unless something goes sideways, expect the Flowe brothers to be Wildcats next season. After being a national recruit in high school, Justin will look to reach his potential by leading the Wildcat defense.

4. WR Dont’e Thornton, Oregon, 2021 #57 nationally, #7 WR
2022: 17 receptions for 366 yards 1 TD
Though still loaded with potential, Dont’e Thornton never settled in as a Duck. It can be argued that the former Duck is the player who will conclude as the player with the best college career, but the players above have done a better job in terms of on-field success thus far.
Thornton is a popular man in the portal, being seen as one of the top targets in all of college football. He recently visited Auburn and is set to visit Miami, with Penn State attempting to get involved as Thornton was formerly committed to the Nittany Lions in high school. Auburn sits in a comfortable position as of now after a successful visit but should fear the Hurricanes and Mario Cristobal, as they have proven successful in terms of recruiting.

3. LB Levani Damuni, Stanford, 2017 #485 nationally, #45 OLB
2022: 76 tackles (32 solos), 1 sack, 2 forced fumbles, 1 INT, 2 passes deflected
Levani Damuni is a big loss for the Cardinal, serving as the leading tackler on the defensive side. The linebacker quickly announced his decision to transfer to his hometown Utah Utes With over 200 career tackles and two years of eligibility remaining, the linebacker will look to provide experience to the already relentless Utah defense.

2. OG LeaDarius Henderson, Arizona State, 2019 #741 nationally, #57 OT
The Sun Devil offensive lineman has been a three-year starter and was seen as a lower-tier NFL prospect for the 2023 draft. Henderson has allowed just two sacks and 13 QB pressures over the last 593 pass-blocking snap the past two seasons (according to PFF). The experienced lineman announced his decision to transfer to Michigan, serving as a major pickup for the Wolverines as they expect two of their starters to depart.

1. WR Dorian Singer, Arizona, 2021 #1030 nationally, #147 WR
2022: 66 receptions for 1105 yards 6 TDs
The Wildcats wideout led the Pac-12 in receiving yards, earning himself over ten offers almost immediately after entering the portal, including Penn State, Oregon, Miami, Colorado, and Oklahoma. There’s been no announcement as to visits or any one of these schools being more involved than another, but expect Dorian Singer to make a significant impact for a power-five school next season.
Arizona WR Dorian Singer will enter the transfer portal.
He caught 66 receptions for 1105 yards and 6 TDs in 2022.
