Fact or Fiction: Jeff Brohm at Louisville, Phil Longo’s Fit, Jim Leonhard Leaving Wisconsin

In Mike Farrell’s Fact or Fiction, he discusses whether Jeff Brohm will take Louisville to the next level…

In today’s Fact or Fiction, I look at three big recent topics in college football and decide whether the statement is indeed FACT or if it’s FICTION.

1. Jeff Brohm will take Louisville to new heights.

Farrell’s take: FACT

I like this hire. I don’t like what Louisville did to Scott Satterfield in not extending him and forcing him to forego his buyout if he didn’t win 8 games next season, but in the end, his departure from Louisville opened the door for Brohm to head home. And that will help NIL and chatter about the program which in turn will help recruiting. And we already know he’s a solid coach so Louisville is still my sleeping giant in the ACC.

2. Phil Longo to Wisconsin is puzzling.

Farrell’s take: FACT

I’m sure there’s more money involved here for the former UNC offensive coordinator and Wisconsin is a great job but why not wait a year and see what happens? You have QB Drake Maye who has a chance to be the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft after next season and with that success could come a head coaching deal. Trust me when I tell you that programs are dying for offensive minds these days and the Maye ticket would be a good one for that next step. Wisconsin will be a challenge for sure.

3. Jim Leonhard had to leave Wisconsin.

Farrell’s take: FACT

Speaking of Wisconsin, what they did to Jim Leonhard is harsh and he had to say goodbye. And he’s all class as expected and will coach the bowl game. I applaud Wisconsin for getting the best man for the job and Luke Fickell is a great hire but to try to pretend to Leonhard that his ceiling hasn’t been hit at Wisconsin is just silly. Staying, even as a loyal alum, would signal he’s fine with being passed over.
