In today’s Fact or Fiction, I look at three big recent topics in college football and decide whether the statement is indeed FACT or if it’s FICTION.
1. Purdue will give Michigan trouble.
Farrell’s take: FACT
Aidan O’Connell will play, Blake Corum will not and Michigan is a 17-point favorite over giant killer Purdue for some reason. I get that Purdue hasn’t really beaten anyone this season and have been shut down by defenses like Iowa, Minnesota and Northwestern, but they also have a good track record under Jeff Brohm against elite teams. Brohm is 3-0 against top five teams at Purdue and he’s very good at game planning. And, of course, Michigan is coming off a massive rivalry game win and could start a bit flat. I don’t call for an upset but it could be a one score game.

2. Bo Nix will stay at Oregon.
Farrell’s take: FICTION
I know he’s thinking about it and he could use another season of development but common sense dictates he leaves. I see him as a round three guy at worst right now and he’s had a couple of serious ankle issues over his career and is coming off another. Why stay and potentially get banged up even more? With Kenny Dillingham gone to Arizona State, uncertainly lies on offense as well at Oregon so he will leave.

3. Dillingham is over his head at Arizona State.
Farrell’s take: FICTION
He’s only 32 and that’s very young to take over a Power Five program, but he’s also a very good offensive mind, personable and energetic and he can recruit. And this is what the boosters at ASU want after NFL retread Herm Edwards sunk the program on and off the field. Dillingham will breathe life into a potential sleeping giant at ASU.
