Week twelve continues with rivalry matchups across the board. After this week, bowl season becomes the last chance for players to impress voters.

1. CJ Stroud

  • Season Stats: 3,614 Yards, 34 TDs, 4 INTs, 86.2 QBR, 68.8 Comp %

4. Caleb Williams

Sophomore, USC

  • Week 12 Stats: 32-43, 470 Yards, 2 TDs, 1 INT, 87.2 QBR, 74.4 Comp %
  • Season Stats: 3,480 Yards, 33 TDs, 3 INTs, 85.3 QBR, 63.7 Comp %

5. Hendon Hooker

Senior, Tennessee

  • Week 12 Stats: 25-42, 247 Yards, 3 TDs, 0 INTs, 82.9 QBR, 59.5 Comp %
  • Season Stats: 3,135 Yards, 27 TDs, 2 INT, 89.6 QBR, 69.6 Comp %

No freshman has ever won the Heisman trophy, and while it’s unlikely that changes this year, Drake Maye has the stats to back up his bid. The Heisman race will be decided this week in Columbus as Blake Corum and CJ Stroud face off in an electrifying matchup. Unfortunately, Hendon Hooker’s injury tarnishes his chances for this award, but he will still be in New York for the ceremony.

Sophomore, USC

  • Week 12 Stats: 32-43, 470 Yards, 2 TDs, 1 INT, 87.2 QBR, 74.4 Comp %
  • Season Stats: 3,480 Yards, 33 TDs, 3 INTs, 85.3 QBR, 63.7 Comp %

5. Hendon Hooker

  • Season Stats: 3,135 Yards, 27 TDs, 2 INT, 89.6 QBR, 69.6 Comp %

Drake Maye and Max Duggan are on fire leading their teams to a combined 20-2 record heading into the final week. Caleb Williams overtakes Hendon Hooker for #4 due to injury, unfortunately ending Hooker’s hopes of another prestigious award. Look out for Caleb Williams to move into the top 3 shortly and give the frontrunners some competition.

Doak Walker Award

The Doak Walker Award is presented to the top running back in College Football.

1. Chase Brown

Junior, Illinois

  • Week 12 Stats: 29 Carries, 140 Yards, 2 TDs, 4.8 YPC
  • Season Stats: 309 Carries, 1,582 Yards, 9 TDs, 5.1 YPC

https://twitter.com/PFF_College/status/1593365110273167360

2. Blake Corum

Senior, Michigan

  • Week 12 Stats: 18 Carries, 108 Yards, 1 TD, 6.0 YPC
  • Season Stats: 245 Carries, 1,457 Yards, 18 TDs, 5.9 YPC

https://twitter.com/GoBluePoole/status/1594351670376517634

3. Israel Abanikanda

Junior, Pittsburgh

  • Week 12 Stats: 17 Carries, 113 Yards, 1 TD, 6.6 YPC
  • Season Stats: 224 Carries, 1,320 Yards, 18 TDs, 5.9 YPC

4. Mohamed Ibrahim

Senior, Minnesota

  • Week 12 Stats: 39 Carries, 263 Yards, 1 TD, 6.7 YPC
  • Season Stats: 277 Carries, 1,524 Yards, 19 TDs, 5.5 YPC

https://twitter.com/PFF_College/status/1594122672711016448

5. Khalan Laborn

Senior, Marshall

  • Week 12 Stats: 17 Carries, 70 Yards, 0 TDs, 4.1 YPC
  • Season Stats: 270 Carries, 1,323 Yards, 14 TDs, 4.9 YPC

The finalists are set, in my opinion; however, the order of the top five can still change. Illinois and Chase Brown lost against Michigan, but the Junior Back dominated a tough defense with a worse offensive line. Brown is back in the lead, but Blake Corum is still on his tail.

Illinois RB Chase Brown (2) breaks through a tackle in a matchup against Nebraska.

The Fred Biletnikoff Award

The Fred Biletnikoff Award is presented to the most outstanding receiver each year.

4. Jacob Cowing

Sophomore, Ohio St

  • Week 12 Stats: 5 Receptions, 68 Yards (13.6 YPC), 0 TDs
  • Season Stats: 65 receptions, 969 Yards (16.0 YPC), 11 TDs

Jalin Hyatt is unstoppable and putting up similar numbers to Devonta Smith in 2020. Due to his injury, Jordan Addison falls out of the top 5 but is still a name to watch. My finalists are set for this award.

Pittsburgh defensive back Erick Hallett (31) attempts to tackle Tennessee wide receiver Jalin Hyatt (11) during the second half of a game between the Tennessee Volunteers and Pittsburgh Panthers in Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh, Saturday, Sept. 10, 2022. Tennessee defeated Pitt 34-27 in overtime.

https://twitter.com/seniorbowl/status/1595515257346220033

3. Michael Mayer

Junior, Notre Dame

  • Week 12 Stats: 5 receptions, 64 yards (12.8 YPC), 0 TDs
  • Season Stats: 59 receptions, 711 yards (12.1 YPC), 7 TDs

https://twitter.com/PFF_College/status/1595796129060335616

4. Seydou Traore

Sophomore, Arkansas State

  • Week 12 Stats: 5 Receptions, 49 Yards (5.8 YPC), 1 TD

5. Joel Wilson

Junior, Central Michigan

  • Week 12 Stats: N/A
  • Season Stats: 44 receptions, 445 yards (10.1 YPC), 6 TDs

The top five experiences no changes this week. Michael Mayer closed the gap between him and Dalton Kincaid in what has become a three-way battle for #1 in the closing weeks. Seydou Traore and Joel Wilson enter the top 5 this week after solid performances lately. Keep an eye on Brenton Strange and Trey Knox to potentially shake up this top 5.
