Names in the News

–4-star RB Mark Fletcher, American Heritage High School, Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Mark Fletcher, the No. 260 overall, No. 15 running back, and No. 53 player in Florida, decommitted from the Ohio State Buckeyes on Wednesday night. Fletcher had committed to the Buckeyes in April, choosing them over the Miami Hurricanes, Michigan Wolverines, and Penn State Nittany Lions. However, he was at The Swamp last weekend when the Gators hosted the South Carolina Gamecocks. And the weekend before that, he visited the Miami Hurricanes when they hosted the Florida State Seminoles. The Gators and the Hurricanes are the top two teams for Fletcher, with the Gators in the lead. The 247 Sports Crystal Ball has him going to Gainesville.

After yesterday's decommitment, is Miami the favorite to land Four-star 2023 RB Mark Fletcher?

"The conversation with Miami is going good. They check in daily, see how I'm doing as a person."@thecribsouthfla with more: https://t.co/Ew1Vh4NVw3 pic.twitter.com/W7aXsN8Y9k

–4-star DL Ashton Porter, Cy Ranch High School, Cypress, Texas.

Ashton Porter is ranked the No. 305 overall, No. 43 defensive lineman, and No. 56 player in Texas. He will be at Autzen Stadium this weekend when the Oregon Ducks host the Utah Utes. The Ducks are one of his top five schools, along with the Houston Cougars, Michigan State Spartans, Mississippi State Bulldogs, and TCU Horned Frogs. He had been committed to the Northwestern Wildcats before he backed off his pledge in October. The Ducks should be the favorites here, considering what Porter said,

“Oregon is my dream school, I’ve always wanted to go to Oregon on a visit.“

They have the No. 11 recruiting class and are first in the Pac-12, which would improve by adding Porter and some of their other targets.

The Best Way to End the Scheduling Debate

–4-star 2024 CB Braydon Lee, Charles Herbert Flowers High School, Upper Marlboro, Maryland.

Braydon Lee is the No. 114 overall, No. 10 cornerback, and No. 4 player from Maryland in the 2024 class. He has named his list of top ten schools. They are the Alabama Crimson Tide, Georgia Bulldogs, Maryland Terrapins, North Carolina Tar Heels, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Ohio State Buckeyes, Penn State Nittany Lions, Pittsburgh Panthers, South Carolina Gamecocks, and Tennessee Volunteers. Maryland is the current favorite, according to the On3 RPM, with a 25.8% chance of landing him. It is early in the process here, but I like the Terps right now. They are his home state school, and he has a great relationship with head coach Mike Locksley and cornerbacks coach Henry Baker. Lee said,

“And my relationships with Coach Locks and coach Baker have been amazing from the jump, and I can feel how much they’ve prioritized me for their ’24 class.“

Safe to say Maryland will likely be in this race during his entire recruiting process.

–3-star 2024 QB Trey Owens, Cy-Fair High School, Cypress, Texas.

Trey Owens is the No. 446 overall, No. 38 quarterback, and No. 72 player in Texas in the 2024 class. He has offers from the Baylor Bears, Houston Cougars, SMU Mustangs, Texas Longhorns, Texas Tech Red Raiders, UTSA Roadrunners, and Washington State Cougars, among others. However, at this point, the Red Raiders, Longhorns, Bears, and Cougars could be the teams in the lead.

“Texas Tech is definitely making me a priority. I’d say them, I talk to Baylor a ton and UT a lot too. I also talk to Washington State a little bit, not as much as the rest. I’d say those 3-4 schools I talk to the most.”

He was in Lubbock last weekend for the Red Raider’s victory over the Kansas Jayhawks and had a great visit, but he will be in Waco this weekend for the Baylor Bears and TCU Horned Frogs. It is very early, but I like Texas Tech right now.

Touchdown @BFND_Football

Trey Owens has three beautiful throws in quick order, two to Owen Carter and the last one to Connor Porter for the score!

–3-star DE Jamel Howard, Marist High School, Chicago, Illinois.

Jamel Howard, who is ranked No. 1230 overall, No. 133 defensive end, and No. 26 player in Illinois, decommitted from the Wisconsin Badgers on Thursday. He committed to them in July, choosing them over the Illinois Fighting Illini, Iowa State Cyclones, and Nebraska Cornhuskers, among others. The team to watch now is the Michigan Wolverines. The expectation is that Howard will be at the Big House this weekend when the Wolverines host the Illini. The 247 Sports Crystal Ball gives them a 77.8% chance of landing him, and I like the Wolverines here, also.

Had a chance to see newest Wisconsin commit Jamel Howard at UC Report in Kansas City. Badgers getting a nose in their system, but he has some finesse in addition to power. (VIP) https://t.co/sOOK7oxVex pic.twitter.com/THbo4a8tRC
