The Outland Trophy is an award presented annually to the best interior lineman in the country. The award was named after John Outland. The award was first presented to Notre Dame linemen George Connor in 1946. Georgia DL Jordan Davis was announced the winner last year.

Top 3

Sep 5, 2022; Atlanta, Georgia, USA; Clemson Tigers defensive tackle Bryan Bresee (11) tackles Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets quarterback Jeff Sims (10) for a loss during the second half at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

#3 Bryan Bresee

Sophomore, Clemson

Jalen Carter missed last week’s game due to an injury. Bryan Bresee missed the game against Louisiana Tech due to personal issues but returned to the field against Wake Forest. During the game, he had two tackles in an OT win and found himself in the backfield multiple times. Bresee is a star in the Tigers’ defense, and while he doesn’t have the stats, he is a wrecking force along the line.

Notre Dame offensive lineman Jarrett Patterson (55) walks off the field after the Notre Dame vs. California NCAA football game Saturday, Sept. 17, 2022 at Notre Dame Stadium in South Bend.

#2 Jarrett Patterson, Senior, Notre Dame

Patterson once again finds himself in the top two. The Norte Dame linemen led the Irish to a second straight win. Throughout the game, multiple Irish backs broke free for huge gains, thanks to the guys up front. Patterson will stay at #2 this week and continues to contest for the outland trophy.

Jul 26, 2022; Indianapolis, IN, USA; Northwestern Wildcats left tackle Peter Skoronski talks to the media during Big 10 football media days at Lucas Oil Stadium.

#1 Peter Skoronski, Junior, Northwestern

I said it last week, and I will say it again, Peter Skoronski is the best offensive tackle in college football. Peter has a PFF grade of 91.5 and continues to dominate opposing defenders with his size. Skoronski should win the Outland trophy this year and become the first lineman taken in the 2023 NFL Draft.
