The Heisman Trophy is awarded annually to the most outstanding player in college football. The award started in 1935, with University of Chicago Senior RB Jay Berwanger receiving the Downtown Athletic Club Trophy that would later be named the Heisman Trophy after the club’s president. Alabama QB Bryce Young became the most recent winner of this award.

Caleb Williams followed Lincoln Riley to SoCal and has not wasted time showing out. The sophomore signal caller was the best QB in the nation in the class of 2020, and he has dominated opponents to start his season. Williams has led the Trojans to a 3-0 start on the year accounting for 947 total yards and ten touchdowns. Along with Caleb Williams, USC brought in 20 transfers, including playmakers like Jordan Addison, Brenden Rice, Mario Williams, Austin Jones, and Travis Dye. With all this offensive talent, it’s no secret Caleb Williams has been successful this year. Lincoln Riley has produced two Heisman QBs in Kyler Murray and Baker Mayfield; I would not be shocked to see Caleb Williams become the third.

Bryce Young won the Heisman last year and has no regression this year. Caleb Williams does have better numbers than Bryce; however, without Bryce, Alabama is 2-1 with a loss to Texas. Young had a rough game against ULM this week, throwing two interceptions and making uncharacteristic mistakes. Young is a great QB, and games against teams that should be ranked should help him move up the list. Alabama is home against Vanderbilt this week, allowing Young to get back on track and potentially become the second player in history to win back-to-back Heisman Trophies.

CJ Stroud is the best Quarterback in college football right now. Ohio State lost Jaxon Smith Njigba against Notre Dame since Stroud, and the electric Ohio State offense hasn’t missed a step. Ohio State will play an elite defense so far in week 4, meaning Stroud will have to step up, and I believe he will. If Stroud continues his dominance this season, he will be hoisting the Heisman Trophy in New York at the end of the year.
