Fact or Fiction: Tampering, Nick Saban, Michigan Recruiting

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]In today’s Fact or Fiction, I look at three big recent topics in college football and decide whether the statement is indeed FACT or if it’s FICTION.[/vc_column_text][vc_separator][vc_column_text]

Fact or Fiction:

Tampering exists in the transfer portal

Farrell’s take: FACT

Duh. Pat Narduzzi is saying what we all know when he says that name, image and likeness rules were “probably” violated over the spring. Narduzzi, who accused Lincoln Riley of tampering when star WR Jordan Addison transferred to USC, feels that the lack of NIL guidelines are leading to black market deals. And of course he’s right. But who’s going to step in and set these guidelines? Only the federal government can do that at this point as programs will deal with massive anti trust lawsuits as will any governing body. The NCAA let the genie out of the bottle here and it’s not going back in. But I do like how outspoken Narduzzi is.[/vc_column_text][vc_separator][vc_column_text]

Fact or Fiction:

Nick Saban was rebuilding last season

Farrell’s take: FICTION

Nick Saban is the goat so when he says something I tend to believe it. But when he said on the McElroy and Cubelic Show that 2021 was a rebuilding year for Alabama I have to take pause. Yes they replaced some elite talent that left mainly at quarterback, running back and wide receiver but let’s be real. Alabama reloads they don’t rebuild and that will be the case under Saban until he retires. So when five stars are replaced with five stars I won’t give him the rebuild label.[/vc_column_text][vc_separator][vc_column_text]

Fact or Fiction:

Michigan recruiting is alarming

Farrell’s take: FACT

After making the college football playoff last season you’d expect Michigan recruiting to take off. But the Wolverines are in the middle of the pack in the Big Ten in recruiting, have missed out on some major targets especially at quarterback and now they will add a few after the BBQ but none of them huge names it appears. They really need a player like Jadyn Davis, the 4 star QB in 2024 from North Carolina, to step up and say yes to boost this class.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
