Fact or Fiction: Miami, Texas Recruiting, Payton Kirkland

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]In today’s Fact or Fiction, I look at three big recent topics in college football and decide whether the statement is indeed FACT or if it’s FICTION.[/vc_column_text][vc_separator][vc_column_text]

Fact or Fiction:

Miami will win more than 9 games

Farrell’s take: FICTION

I love the Mario Cristobal hire and all that. And I believe The U is on the way back. But 10-2? I don’t see it. They have Texas A&M on the road as well as Clemson away from home and we know they won’t go undefeated in their own division. A stumble against perhaps Virginia or Pitt or perhaps North Carolina and I have them 9-3 this season. Will they win their division? Yes. But a 10-win regular season isn’t in the cards.[/vc_column_text][vc_separator][vc_column_text]

Fact or Fiction:

The state of Texas owns New Jersey

Farrell’s take: FACT

This isn’t good for Greg Schiano and Rutgers as Texas A&M landed top 3 NJ player OL Chase Bisontis a month after Texas landed top 3 NJ player DT Sydir Mitchell. While Rutgers isn’t exactly a recruiting powerhouse, these two Texas programs also beat teams like Michigan, Penn State, Michigan State, Georgia, and others that like to target the area. NIL is important these days and the state of Texas is lucrative. I can’t remember the last time two elite NJ prospects left for the Lone Star State.[/vc_column_text][vc_separator][vc_column_text]

Fact or Fiction:

Payton Kirkland to Texas is a stunner

Farrell’s take: FACT

Oklahoma, Michigan State, Alabama, Florida, and Miami were the finalists for the Florida OT but there were some rumors of Texas a few days before his commitment. So why is it a stunner? Because he hasn’t visited Austin and vehemently denied any interest in Texas days before when rumors started. It’s not the first time kids have head faked a decision but the lack of visit is what intrigues me. Will this stick? The Arch Manning effect is clearly huge.
